I wouldn't say always, but most of the time. As for Weiss, he's got skill, but not what we need at this moment on our roster. There's no reason to use our free cap space on him. However, ever since Holland signed Dallas Drake I wouldn't be surprised by anything right now.
-
Get used to it because pretty soon there won't be any fighting in hockey at all. Not that there's that much now.
-
I hope that Florida resigns him quickly, so we don't have to hear about him anymore on this forum.
-
I agree with your comment about us lacking the attitude players, but it's not like we don't have players that take dumb penalites now. Everyone takes dumb penalties from time to time. That's no excuse for not having an enforcer.
-
Who the hell does fight anymore? Last year there was only 1 player that cracked the 200 PIM mark. Even the top fighters in the game can't get as much as 15 fighting majors in a season, which as recently as 10 years ago was every enforcer's monthly workload.
-
I hope it wasn't Dallas Drake.
-
One of my favorite Probert fights. Although I'll still take his fights with Coxe and Domi over this one.

I disagree. The colors were great with the yellow and black. Anything is better than what they've been wearing since the mid 90's.
-
I loved the blue/green colors because it reminds me of the Hartford Whalers somewhat, but I hate the stick in the middle. Even a 5 year old could think of something better. My favorite jerseys of theirs has to be the ones they used in the early 90's, like when they went to the finals. I wouldn't mind seeing that come back. Also, I hope the Flyers can bring back the long pants. Just Kidding.

I think that Avery might be one of those guys that plays his best when he's edgy, loud, and getting under other people's skins. Who knows, if he mellows out then maybe he'll lose some of his motivation to be tenacious and gritty. I guess that some players just have different methods of motivation than others.
-
I guess it depends on how you define the term "best". Based on your definition it can't be the Wings or the Leafs, because neither crowd is ever that loud or obnoxious. I think the safest answer is the Flames or Oilers because they're so used to hockey up there and both teams play in loud arenas and possess an incredibly loyal fanbase.

I think that popularity has more to do with casual Wings fans rather than hardcore fans. The true fans will go to games no matter who the players are or what kind of interviews they give. For casual fans, yes some players have more charisma on and off the ice than others, but the NHL as a whole has trouble marketing its stars. It's not fair to blame the Wings for signing so called "boring players" when the whole country seems to think that hockey is more boring than baseball. Exactly which team in the NHL has an exciting roster full of eccentric personalities? I can't think of any right now.

I hate the Ducks like many people here do, but I think they have a great chance to repeat this year as champions. As for the next few years after that, who cares? Are you guys honestly thinking 3 or 4 years ahead as to which team will do what?
-
I understand your point, but I wouldn't look too closely at the stats to judge him last year as opposed to 10 years ago. When he played here the Wings always had balanced scoring so that none of our forwards were league leaders in major scoring categories. In New York, he was one of the top dogs on a team that has trouble getting scoring outside of their top 2 lines. Losing him last year really hurt, but it was inevitable and was coming for some time. Also, don't forget that his playoff production in Detroit wasn't too hot the last few years.
-
I don't know how most of you define the term "washed up", but at his age I don't see what's wrong with having that label. He's accomplished everything there is to accomplish and is going to be in the Hall of Fame. I'm sure that if healthy he can still help many teams, but not at the same level he could before. As for the Wings, there's nothing he could currently give us that we need. I can't wait till the season starts so we can stop talking about Federov, and focus on other repetitive threads like why Babcock puts Samuelsson on the point for the powerplay, or if we'll ever have an enforcer?
-
It has to be Konstantinov because he was in his prime as previously mentioned. But come on guys, best D-man in the world? That's going a little too far.
-
No considering how much money Lidstrom and Rafalski make. Also, don't forget Kronwall's ridiculous contract.
-
We already have one forward in Samuelsson that has exhibited greatness in playing the point on the powerplay. I think that we should make him our number 1 D-man, and trade Lidstrom for Fedorov to make him our number 2 defenseman. Just Kidding. Seriously, though, how come people on this forum have all of a sudden gotten the idea that Fedorov would be willing to be a defenseman.
-
I've never really thought of Draper as being in the same boat as those other players you mentioned, although I know that opposing fans often dislike him.
-
That's exactly what I mean. Even if they do bring hockey back, it won't get much recognition on their network, so why would the league even bother? Oh and by the way, the last time I checked, nobody watched the NBA finals either.
-
I'd hate to think that we would use all of our remaining cap room to sign this guy. Then again, he is dating a hot actress, so I wouldn't mind seeing her around the Joe. Things just haven't been the same without Kournikova sitting in the press box.
-
He was a big fish in a small pond in LA. I wouldn't pay him 4 million a year just for having 1 or 2 solid seasons there. Besides, we already have plenty of skilled undersized forwards, and don't need another center.
-
It's pretty sad that at his size he's one our biggest forwards.
-
Yes, but he played here before the divealanche moved to Denver, so there was no rivalry between the two teams as of yet.
-
At least Versus showed every Wings playoff game. ESPN won't show 2 playoff games a night, they have too many other illegitimate interests.
