    Teemu Selanne

It's pretty sad that at his size he's one our biggest forwards.

    Forsberg to the Wings?

Yes, but he played here before the divealanche moved to Denver, so there was no rivalry between the two teams as of yet.

    NHL and ESPN talking

At least Versus showed every Wings playoff game. ESPN won't show 2 playoff games a night, they have too many other illegitimate interests.

    Forsberg to the Wings?

Thanks. I forgot all about him. Even though he did score the biggest goal in their team's history he was pretty useless here.

    Forsberg to the Wings?

Has any player ever played for both the divelanche and the Red Wings? I can't think of anybody at the moment, but maybe you guys can help.

    Forsberg to the Wings?

I hope that he goes to the divealanche where he belongs with the rest of the scum.

    Forsberg vs. Fedorov

What makes you think that he will be healthy here since you just pointed out how he wasn't healthy for most of the year. As for his defensive prowess, we have more top notch defensive forwards than anyone else in the league with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Draper, Maltby, Cleary, Fillpulla, and Franzen. We don't need help there. I don't know what kind of 2nd line center Fillpulla will be, but at this point I'm more willing to give him a shot than Feds.

Scariest moment of this year's playoffs?

For me it was that brief moment between Lilja's turnover in overtime, and Selanne's goal off the turnover. I knew in that moment that we were screwed.

    Midsummer report cards: Central Division

I don't think that Edmonton would have gotten to the finals with Legace as their goalie, because they'd never have gotten past us.

    Forsberg vs. Fedorov

I haven't dated her, or else I would have remembered. But seriously, we need a top 6 forward, and Feds isn't at that level anymore. Yeah Columbus still uses him as a 1st line center, but we're not trying to be like Columbus.

    Kiprusoff in 08

    Can you say Kevin Lowe.

    Daze

I honestly hope that we can go through this entire thread without 1 person suggesting that the Wings should give him a shot.

    Midsummer report cards: Central Division

I thought that Forsberg was still on the Predators roster? Also, I can't believe that Kariya and Tkachuk would throw away any last chance of ever winning the cup by going to a dump like St. Louis.

    New Florida Panthers Jerseys revealed.

Carolina will win that division. I still can't believe how much they sucked last year with a roster which was almost identical to that which won the cup.
  15. GMRwings1983

    Forsberg vs. Fedorov

Kronwall and Lebda don't have the kind of shot that can scare other teams on the powerplay. They're good skaters who can move the puck, but not great powerplay quarterbacks because they lack a hard shot.

    Smyth and Holmstrom

My condolences go out to you for having a divealanche fan for a roommate. As for the argument, I agree with the other posters in that Smyth kills penalties and is a more all around physical player than Homer. Also, they're different in that Smyth likes to shift around the net more often, while Homer will just stand in front of the goalie. Also, opposing players hate Homer a lot more than Smyth.

    Forsberg vs. Fedorov

We already have 2 great players on the point in Rafalski and Lidstrom. Kronwall doesn't have a great shot, but he's not bad on the point either as a puck mover. Most teams in the league don't have that kind of talent on the point, so there' s no reason to bring Fedorov in for that reason. Also, I doubt that any other teams' fans are asking for their team to sign Fedorov because he can play any position and was once a great player. He hasn't been a motivated player for years, and I can't remember ever seeing a guy being that unmotivated for several years and all of a sudden becoming motivated again in his late 30's. It just doesn't work like that, and it seems like many people here think that Feds will come here and put on his Superman cape to contribute to the team.

    Wings like Gelech's potential

Moen won't be a 1 year wonder, because he didn't do anything spectacular for the Ducks, but was instead a solid checking winger. If they keep him together with Niedermayer and Pahlsson, that'll continue to be the best checking line in the league.

    Hossa a hero

If PTI does give it airtime, then it will follow the story with the ceremonious "nobody cares about the NHL because we don't care" joke. f*** PTI.

    Forsberg vs. Fedorov

We need a dangerous shooter on the slot on the powerplay and not from the point where we already have Lidstrom and Rafalski which is better than what most teams have. Forsberg just gives us what we already have in Datsyuk and Zetterberg, and Fedorov is over the hill.

    Yzerman's All Time Ranking

I know that all of us here love Steve Yzerman, but I was just wondering where some of you objectively have him ranked on your all time greatest players list? Personally, I have him 9th or 10th on my list.

    Mule to be a beast

Fillpulla is the brightest of all those listed above, but he's not shown that he can be a star the way Zetterberg has. That has to come with time, so we'll wait and see. Of course being Wings fans, we don't want to wait too long.
  23. GMRwings1983

    Forsberg vs. Fedorov

I don't want to see either one at this point. The team needs to save its money for a younger player that can contribute immediately and for the future. There's no need to make any more experiments like the one done last year with Bertuzzi.
  24. GMRwings1983

    Mule to be a beast

I think that the reason people are so high on Franzen is that he's a lot bigger than our other forwards, and he played well in the playoffs last year. I still don't see him as a 2nd liner, let alone 1st liner, but since we didn't do much in the free agent pool, Franzen will be a top 6 forward this year. As for players being overhyped, I agree with you. Just look at Kopecky, Grigorenko, Kronwall, and Fillpulla, who are looked at by many Wings fans as future stars. Also, when Calder went ice cold in the playoffs last year, people seemed shocked, not realizing that he was cold all year in Philly which is why they got rid of him.

    Mule to be a beast

When Bertuzzi first suited up in the Calgary series, he was paired with Lang and Franzen. Franzen finished up the playoffs on the second line with Zetterberg and Samuelsson. That is the one thing that I like about Babcock as opposed to Dave Lewis, in that he's not afraid to shuffle lines around.
