Too physical. Holland likes wimps and milksops on his 4th line. Sounds like our average 4th liner the last five years. That's what Holland wants in a 4th line player. Or is that what Babcock wanted? I guess we'll soon find out. LOL. That's all I needed to hear to see how useless he is. You may as well mention Mark Mowers.

It'd be interesting to see how many minutes McCarty logged on average during those two playoffs. I doubt it was typical of a first liner. I'm guessing Bowman moved Yzerman around and also guessing many of Yzerman's points came on the powerplay. Abby is a more capable offensive player than McCarty. Not top line material, but still more capable.

McCarty wasn't a top line player. That was my point. Yzerman once again took a backseat to the team.

Poor Yzerman. Having to play with two guys in Homer and Mac who are slower than dirt. Here's a question. Was Yzerman even playing on what was considered the top line in those years? McCarty is not a top line guy and Sandstrom wasn't very good in the 1997 playoffs. And Homer was still 10 years away from being a top line player in 1998. Interesting to put the franchise center in that situation.

I believe you need to flip Lapointe and McCarty, but I could be wrong. Don't remember at all what line Holmstrom played on in the 1998 playoffs. Did he play with Yzerman and McCarty?

That's bizarre. After so much time in NJ, I'd think if he stepped away, he'd step away either for good or for a long time. To resign and immediately sign for the Leafs shows there was a rift between him and the organization. Otherwise, it looks like a middle finger to Devils fans.

I'm guessing Holland is the kind of guy that liked his women overripe, and when it was clearly (no pun intended) time to move on, he never could let them go.

Except they've paid him money during this time. It's not like he was interning for the Wings and is now ready to finally make money. Dude is a millionaire. Not sure why Holland has taken loyalty to this level.

How many guys has he clocked with that punch? He's big and uses his size to hold his own, but I don't remember seeing him decimate anybody. -
