    Slava Fetisov: Giant Hypocrite.

When our generation of people who play video games in their 30's grows up, I have no idea what we'll be like. But we won't be like the older people today. It's a less mature generation we live in. Technology has done that. It's not much different in Russia. The younger generations are less mature, get married at later ages and are more independent. People play with their cell phones all day like mindless idiots. Will be even worse for the generations after ours. Fetisov grew up playing on the Red Army team when regulations and rules were everything and you didn't get paid jack squat. Nowadays, players hang out whenever they want, make millions and have lots of freedom. You'll never see teams again like the Red Army team because there's too much independence now. A bunch of controlled robots being forced to play for the country is not possible.

They are lawyers. Thankfully, the good old boys will be gone in 10 to 20 years. Then the new generation takes over.

The King of what? He's never even won a Cup.

Haven't you ever read "We" or "Brave New World"? If I have to choose between free will and happiness, I choose happiness. I want to be mind controlled to be happy. I want to be plugged back into The Matrix, baby! JK. Successful mind control like in those novels is not yet viable. We still have a long way to go. Whereas here, people in DC actually get stuff done, right?

To be fair, the top hockey players in the KHL get paid way more money than Fetisov was making in Russia. This is all about about wanting to still win trophies on the international stage because there is a disconnect between Russian NHL players and Russian KHL players. Yes, forcing them all to play in one league would probably be better for Russian hockey, but many players will still want to play in the best league in the world, so there will be disgruntled players anyway. What Fetisov is asking for is a pipe dream.

Really don't want to see Tampa in the Finals. The only good thing would be to see Yzerman succeed, but that would make me dislike Holland even more. But the NHL would be much better off if NYR made the Finals. Better for ratings.

    Datsyuk's House

You don't need to tell me. I can tell you a Moscow, break-in, apartment story you'd never believe.

If Blashill doesn't get the job, this board will collapse. I wouldn't mind McClellan, though. I'd probably take him over Blashill. But McClellan may be gone according to speculation.

    Datsyuk's House

I can totally see Datsyuk moving to Moscow and living in one of those giant apartment complexes (yours truly used to live in one too).

Babcock's ego thinks he can change that. Toronto is the hockey center of the universe. Plus, the money is too good to worry about dumpster fires.

Weiss and Kindl for Phaneuf? Yeah, I see your point.

Who wouldn't want to live in Toronto over Detroit, and for that kind of money no less?

GM and coach almost never works in sports, but coaches have big enough egos where they wouldn't pass it up.

Is Phil Kessel a Babcock guy? He wouldn't backcheck if his mother was in his team's goal.

Hits is the most absurdly kept statistic in the NHL.

What's sad is that Shaw and the Blackhawks were stupid enough to think it would count.

Lots of NHL players smoke. You just don't hear about it. Maybe not so much as in the past. Guys like Mario Lemieux, Guy Lafleur and others used to smoke. Here's a good article on that from a few years back. http://www.si.com/nhl/2012/02/29/players-smokingcigarettesnhlhockey

Question for the Board regarding Babcock

Well, that's a good question. All I can say is that it would be yet another mediocre season. Maybe one too many. His stock has to fall sometime with perennial first round exits. I'm surprised it hasn't already, but maybe Buffalo is too desperate to not care. I mean, this organization recently brought Ted Nolan back from a coma, after he "allegedly" had an affair with their star player's wife in the 90's. What kind of team would do that?

WCF : (3) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

Games like this make me miss the days when I was unemployed and/or going to college. I'd stay up late watching this crap. Went to sleep last night with about two minutes left in the 3rd period. On a side note, I'm jealous the Blackhawks have this ability to win most of these long OT games. They seem to believe they will win, which is the opposite of the Wings' mindset during the 2000's. In any case, it will be hard for the Ducks to recover from a loss like this. I think Chicago takes this series. I remember triple OT games in the past where guys like Zubov, Lidstrom or Pronger could log up to an hour of icetime.

Question for the Board regarding Babcock

Barely getting into the playoffs and losing in the first round isn't mediocre? I'd say it is. We finished about middle of the pack when it was all said and done with. Same thing last season. Very few coaches could have messed up that roster Canada had at the Olympics. They rolled in the World Championships as well. If his stock is high because of that, then these teams have lost their minds.

Question for the Board regarding Babcock

He doesn't deserve that kind of money. But money is why, as I said in the other thread, Babcock should take this deal from Buffalo. After another mediocre season in Detroit, his stock won't be any higher.
