Games like this make me miss the days when I was unemployed and/or going to college. I'd stay up late watching this crap. Went to sleep last night with about two minutes left in the 3rd period. On a side note, I'm jealous the Blackhawks have this ability to win most of these long OT games. They seem to believe they will win, which is the opposite of the Wings' mindset during the 2000's. In any case, it will be hard for the Ducks to recover from a loss like this. I think Chicago takes this series. I remember triple OT games in the past where guys like Zubov, Lidstrom or Pronger could log up to an hour of icetime.

Barely getting into the playoffs and losing in the first round isn't mediocre? I'd say it is. We finished about middle of the pack when it was all said and done with. Same thing last season. Very few coaches could have messed up that roster Canada had at the Olympics. They rolled in the World Championships as well. If his stock is high because of that, then these teams have lost their minds.

He doesn't deserve that kind of money. But money is why, as I said in the other thread, Babcock should take this deal from Buffalo. After another mediocre season in Detroit, his stock won't be any higher.

In breaking news, Holland has just traded Steven Weiss to Buffalo. Everyone has an ego, so he probably doesn't feel they'll lose. He probably thinks "he" can be the one to change their fortune. Also, the money is pretty damn good, you must admit. Another s***ty season in Detroit, and he won't demand the same amount of money. He needs to jump on the gravy train while it's there.

I'm moved by your passion on this topic. I hope Babcock takes another three weeks deciding, with Holland acting as puppy dog.

The Cup Finals haven't started yet. Besides, if the Ducks and Lightning play in the Finals, nobody in this country will watch it anyway. Come to think of it, there's maybe 3 or 4 people in the Midwest that even know who Babcock is. Nobody here really cares about this story. It's just Wings fans who do.

Our PK wasn't that good when it came down to it. The powerplay was pretty good, however. Not sure if that's the assistant coaches, or the fact that this team was much healthier this season than in past seasons. Less jobbers on the powerplay.

It would be weird to have a coach who's better than any defenseman on the team. Kind of like when Mario was Penguins GM.

So Babcock didn't have any say in Samuelsson and Bertuzzi taking icetime away from Nyquist and Tatar for several years? How about Cleary's return? All Holland's fault? Babcock is partly responsible for this "overripe" crap. Playing your 4th line 15+ minutes in big games is also Babcock's fault. He gives the wrong people more icetime and has the worst line combos of any coach I've ever seen. Defense wise, I agree he doesn't have much to choose from. There's no way to mix and match our defense pairings and not get an underwhelming lineup together there. We've discussed this before. I feel Babcock is equally responsible for those decisions. I have a hard time believing that Holland made unilateral decisions on signings and trades without consulting Babcock at all. If so, then by all means, let's fire Kenny only. But I don't think so.

That's true, but for the first time in maybe ever, if I had to choose between Holland and Babcock, I'd choose Holland. Babcock's line combos with those "mediocre" players have gotten on my nerves. At least Kenny tried to improve the team this season by making moves before the deadline. Babcock just kept doing the same stubborn s***.

Maybe they see the Wings recent playoff struggles and wonder, "Can this guy win anything anymore unless he's coaching team Canada?"

I agree. Just let this idiot go and name Blashill as our new coach with Dan Cleary and Nicklas Lidstrom as assistant coaches. How freaking hard is that?
