Hammond just cockblocked Boston out of the playoffs. He doesn't look like the next "hot" playoff goalie to me.

I'd be a little scared to say "You're fired" to a guy with over 3,000 PIM. Then again, Hextall is a tough man in his own right.

I don't think the injuries have to do with that. Chicago is one of the least toughest teams in the league over the years when it comes to grinders or enforcers. Pittsburgh has had lots of toughness over the years, but are always among the league leaders in injuries and man games lost. Is it crazy to say that some teams have better conditioning and training than other teams? Better doctors maybe? That some teams prepare players better during offseason and in between games? I don't think so.

I would put Nyquist or Tatar with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. No reason why our three best defensive forwards should all play on the same line. Along with that, I like Helm, but he seems to be Datsyuk's conjoined twin. He shouldn't be leading all forwards in ice time. Don't put him on the top line. Kindl for Marchenko I'm fine with. I though Marchenko was a train wreck last night. Constantly out of position which resulted in several odd man breaks against. The slip was a bad break, but that happened also. He looked unprepared for the moment.

No this thread is not about the Wings. So the league leader in points this year was Jamie Benn, with a whopping 87 points. Ovechkin led the league in goals with 53. Only two other players even hit 40 goals! Only 15 players hit 30 goals. I know this is the era of butterfly, oversized pad goaltending, but this can't be what Bettman and company want to see. You'd think all the top players in the league spent the season overseas when you look at these stats atop the leaderboards. Oh and only 16 players hit 100+ PIM, with only 4 of those players hitting 150+ PIM. I can't imagine that happening any other time in a full season in the modern era. To sum up, this "new NHL" has no scoring and no fighting. I guess if you're a fan of big goalies swallowing up pucks, you'll love today's game. Oh I almost forgot. There's parity, so that makes everything more fun to watch, despite the fact that nobody scores, hits or fights. Parity is what really counts here folks.

Datsyuk, Mrazek and Glenfiddich are the stars. Everyone else should have their paychecks withheld.

You should never apologize for winning a playoff game, but this is the closest I can think of for such an occasion. This team looked completely uninspired to play. Tampa won just about every loose puck battle.

They've both been bad enough where I've mistaken them for each other.

Someone should tell them this isn't the 2014 playoffs, and the big bad Bruins aren't around to hurt their soft euro assholes.

Marchenko looks like the only big game he ever played in was in the KHL playoffs, at some hockey rink in Siberia, with 13 people in the crowd, drinking vodka smuggled in their parkas. I think Kindl should play next game and not him.

When you're getting outshot this badly, you don't deserve to get more powerplays than the other team.

Most people here would call this season a success. Most Boston fans wouldn't. And they only finished a few points behind us. That's why I'm saying they have higher standards. So did we at one time when we were Cup contenders. They've been Cup contenders for the last 5 years. Holland would not be gone if we missed the playoffs. Ilitch will never fire Kenny. Neither will his son.

Can't believe there's people here actually bashing Yzerman. So he didn't want to wait for Kenny to leave. Instead, he goes to Tampa, builds a good team and gets a 1st round pick for Kyle Quincey. You gotta love it.

You know, Lesnar is from Minnesota, so he has to know how to skate and have hockey experience. You'd think, right? Kenny should look into it this summer. Yeah, the star players get more rest now with ice time. That has to do with balanced lines. But I'd rather see star players play big minutes and goons on the 4th line, rather than see star players play less minutes and 4th line jobbers (especially of the euro kind) playing more minutes than before.
