Good point. I hadn't even noticed that. I wonder how many other teams have only three players on the roster that weren't drafted by them? I'm guessing none.
-
2003 was the year Yzerman played a handful of games. In 2002, Yzerman got hurt around the Olympics. I thought Datsyuk was already on the roster by that point, but I could be wrong. Here's another question. Why was DeKeyser undrafted? He certainly isn't a small euro playing in some league nobody ever scouts. Is it because he played in the NCAA?
-
Anyone remember how Datsyuk ever made that 2002 roster? A 6th round pick that put up some unimpressive numbers in the KHL the year before. He must have had a hell of a training camp. I'd never even heard of him prior to some game in December that year when he scored against the Avalanche.

I wonder how many other teams' two best players were picked so low? In many ways, other teams have changed where and how they scout because of Datsyuk and Zetterberg.

Stars trade Sergei Gonchar for Travis Moen from MTL

Gonchar will now play with another Russian in Markov. Forgot both of those players are still in the league. -

LOL. Trading for a tough guy is certainly not something Nill picked up from Holland. -
Conn Smythe served in both World Wars. Syl Apps enlisted in WWII when he was one of the best players in the league. He missed a few seasons.

Who do we have in our pressbox? Hammer hands Draper? I will say, though, that Danny Cleary scored 50 goals in juniors. It's worth giving him a shot. -

Jason Williams has a good backhanded move in shootouts. And he's a right handed shot. And he can play the point on the powerplay. And he's familiar with this organization's "way" of doing things. -
He gets himself hurt because of his poor mechanics as a goalie.
-
Yeah, he lost a lot of respect for his absurd reaction to not getting his 38 year old ass picked for team Canada.
-
Well, this team was average last season too. They'd win a few games in a row, and then go on a similar skid. Once again, this team is s***ty in OT and shootouts. That makes 4 losses already this season.

If Gus doesn't want to tear groins anymore, maybe he needs to work on his rebound control. He's too wild out there. Yes, being wild can result in making saves that look fantastic at times (see Hasek and Tim Thomas), but he's not consistently good enough to get away with it.

These refs were terrible calling that a penalty. The announcers were right earlier about human error and how tough it is to be a ref. However, not calling the game concistently is entirely on the refs. They saw that little ***** boy St. Louis dive, and didn't call it. No human error there.
-
And there's the problem with Gustavsson. Makes everything too difficult. No reason to give up a rebound there.

That prima donna backstabing punk dove.

Acting like a ****** in an opposing arena is never a good idea.
-
We've seemingly had more goals with the goalie pulled in the last month, than the last few seasons before that combined.
-
Holy crap. This team has become good with the goalie pulled. Never remember seeing that before.
-
Abdelkader just made a fool of himself.
-
Franzen doing some enforcing. About time he uses his size for something useful.
-
You mean the bad line change and poor pinch had nothing to do with that?
-
Another poor line change. Same stupid mistake has cost us two goals in this game. Just not paying attention to the little details.
-
How do the refs miss that?
-
Cleary just destroyed that Norwegian milksop.
