WCF: (6) California Dreamin' v (5) The Night Chicago Died
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Which is the opposite of what happened last season. Chicago is in big trouble, but they've overcome adversity these last few seasons in the playoffs. It's not over yet. -
Hope Siberia can appreciate his unique talents.

Why didn't he hit Marchand like that? -

Chicago has the Kings' number. Maybe not....... -
Blues re-sign Elliott, announce Miller won't be back
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Miller has been overrated most of his career. His greatest team successes came when Buffalo was scoring a ton of goals in front of him. At this point, he's a washed up player, like he showed in the playoffs. -

They'd be the first team since the Oilers to do that. In this era, that's amazing. -

No reason to think it will be different than last season. Chicago in 6. Think it was 5 last year, actually. -
WCSF : (6) Los Angeles Cartmans vs. (1) Coach Bombay and the Quacks

The Kings have been incredible the last three years in the playoffs. Except for playing Chicago. They were outmatched by the Hawks last year. Wonder if it will be different this time around? -
Would actually be a good signing for the right price. This powerplay is terrible and needs some help back there. Veteran leadership would also help.

I'm not Canadian, so I still don't understand how you can have a team make it to the Final Four just by hosting the tournament? Obviously, it's tough to set up a playoff with just the three winners from each league. However, to give a 4th team some kind of cheap entry into the Final Four defeats the entire purpose of a tournament.

When you lose three game 7's at home in the last 5 years, you should be fired. Blowing two 3-1 series leads in that time doesn't help. What I find funny is the rumors I heard on NHLN yesterday that ownership feels like the primes of their two best players are being wasted and that the team is too soft and lets other teams get away with too much. I instantly thought of our team, and wished we had the Pens supporting players and toughness. To each his own, I guess. I heard that rumor too. Babcock would be a good fit for the Pens and he needs a fresh start. Don't know where the Wings would then look, with Laviolette already being hired elsewhere. Not too many proven winners around.

ECSF : (4) Montreal Canadiens vs. (1) Boston Bruins

Bull. We still need McGrattan to win the Cup. -

How do I know you're good for it? You're never here anymore. -

1993 and 1994 were the last two times either Montreal or New York were in the Finals. I'm looking forward to seeing one of those teams there. -

President's trophy winners losing a game 7 at home in the second round. Disappointing finish for Boston. They were the team most likely to beat Chicago. Seems like Boston either makes a deep run or disappoints big time. -

Except, they're healthy. That's why they'll likely repeat. -

I wanted it a few years ago, but Jersey had to ruin it for everyone. I blame Bylsma and Fleury. Crosby was underwhelming this year, but his playoff numbers since 2009 are still pretty damn good. -

You mean Babcock? Hard to compare GM's to coaches. Babcock is more accomplished than Bylsma. He's won on multiple levels as a coach and has been to two Finals with two different teams. Bylsma has never shown me anything to think of him as a great coach. His teams have underachieved every year in the playoffs, other than that Cup year. -

He needs to go to the SCF once in his career before he can actually earn that ridiculous nickname. King of the first round is more like it, up to this point. -

No way Bylsma keeps his job after this. Most overrated coach in hockey. This guy took over a team that had been to the Finals before with a different coach. Big deal, they won the Cup the following year when everything fell their way. Since the Cup win, they've blown two separate 3-1 series leads, have lost three game 7's at home (how is that possible?), and have only been to the Conference Finals once (getting swept by Boston last year). Bylsma needs to go. He's wasting the primes of the two best offensive players of this generation. -
How many NHL players want to play in Saskatoon or have their families move there? Remember Pronger's wife in Edmonton?
-
Problem is, I can only see Quebec City as a Canadian city the league is willing to move to. No way are there 5 Canadian cities that are ready to support an NHL team. Relocation of that kind is only possible in the US, by trying other markets. Hamilton is always tossed around, but is Hamilton ready to support an NHL team? Are there enough non-Leafs fans in Hamilton that would support an NHL team over their own OHL team that's been there longer? Are cities like Saskatoon, Medicine Hat (LOL) or Mississauga able to support teams?
-
The term means what it is meant to say. Florida, Carolina, Phoenix, Columbus and Dallas were the five teams with the worst attendance this season, based on percentage of tickets sold. All non-traditional markets. The league needs to cut base with these places, and try moving the teams elsewhere; or contract these teams altogether. Instead, the league wants to expand, this time to Canadian cities that probably can't handle an NHL team.
-
Expansion is a terrible idea. 30 teams is already a lot and there are too many "non traditional hockey markets" still somehow holding on to teams.
