I've heard these things before here on LGW, but have never heard Babcock saying these things in a press conference. Would be interesting to know who that player was Holland didn't sign. -

If you say that Kenny is largely clueless, why do you want him back? -

Can we just agree that Kenny should be fired? -

The irony is, Abdelkader scored in games 1 and 2 of the 2009 Finals, and hardly played the rest of the way. That's Mikey for ya. -

Proof that Babcock is responsible for input in trades and signings, draft picks? That's something coaches generally give input on, unless there's some kind of rift. There's no proof I can give you any more than you can give me. It's just speculation of course. But imo, he's helped build this team since he took over as coach. He's been here long enough to have that influence. -

I didn't say he should go. I just think that option should be explored. Honestly, I think he should go himself because a fresh start would be good for him. He's hit a brick wall with this team. -

Maybe. Who knows? I doubt any coach would put Abdelkader on the 1st line either. -

He's helped build this roster since he took over as coach. As far as drafting and adding input to trades, free agent moves. Obviously, he didn't help build Zetterbrerg or Datsyuk, but his stamp is all over the team as we now know it. -

Where has it been established the two disagree? I don't remember hearing that other than on LGW. I've always thought Babcock has a lot of influence in the organization because of his status as a top coach in the league. In any case, Babcock is responsible for crappy line combos and not making good adjustments. Playing Abby on the top line and Legwand on the 4th line is laughable. Legwand is a solid player who could contribute, instead he's paired with Glendenning and Miller. -

Oh yeah. Well, they still won the Cup a few years later, though. With a roster different than the one he built. So a change helped them, and not because babcock is a bad coach. -

So you don't think Babcock is equally responsible for the bad moves or lack of moves Holland has made over the years? Sounds like many people here think Holland is operating without input from Babcock. I doubt it. Babcock is just as responsible, imo. -

Boston is the most impressive, because Chicago and Pittsburgh sucked for years to get high draft picks as their best players. Boston built their team through draft, trades and free agency. Chiarelli is the best in the business right now. -

Of course not. But when you have players like Datsyuk and Zetterberg still in their primes, you have to take advantage of that. Holland and Babcock could have done more to stop this team's decline over the years. It helps them that no pressure was felt from the ownership to keep things going. Once again, no accountability. It's so bad that there's talk of promoting Holland in the organization, even though the team has declined steadily under him over the years. Why should Holland be promoted? -

Doesn't matter if someone is better. That's not why teams make coaching changes. The Ducks fired Babcock and won the Cup a few years later. Does that mean he was a bad coach? No. But sometimes you have to make a change to freshen things up. This team needs some kind of a change in its philosophy. It won't just come with getting rid of old players (they're all scratched anyway) and calling up more kids from GR. Something more is needed in the attitude of the organization. The complacency and lack of accountability is not a good thing. -

Abdelkader should have broken Chara's stick with one hand, karate chop style, while it was wedged in the glass. -

His coaching has been poor, but everyone says we shouldn't think about firing him, because Holland is entirely to blame and Babcock is wanted by every team in the league. I'm not a big fan of immunity for people in power. -

No he wouldn't. Chara isn't Dave Brown. He would have won, but it would have looked lame. -

Would have impressed me more if he was willing to throw with Chara. That play helped turn the series. They've been laughing at us ever since. -

We wouldn't have beaten Pittsburgh with this defense and PK. Even with Fleury sucking, we couldn't outscore them with our wingers' lack of aim. -

Pretty much. At least last season, a lot of positives came out of the playoffs, despite losing. -

I would take down the Hockeytown logo from center ice until the team becomes a contender again. Right now, their goal seems to be just continuing the playoff streak. The streak wasn't just about making the playoffs, it was about being a contender every year. Mediocrity and Hockeytown shouldn't go together. -

I wouldn't mind. Tired of seeing him taking up roster space from more talented players Holland doesn't want to pursue in the market.
