How come a great team like Boston has room on the roster for a goon like Thornton, playing 7 minutes a night? Meanwhile, our crappy 4th line apparently can't afford to waste roster space on a guy like that? Or so they say. -

Very energetic period so far. Still making too many dumb defensive mistakes and lapses. But I suppose that will happen with our defensive lineup. -
I don't blame any of the players as much as I blame Holland and Babcock. Responsibility should start at the top and it's the main reason why our defense sucks, or we don't have enough grit, scoring wingers, etc. Those two have been carrying a mediocre squad around for a few years now.

Wings won the Cup in spite of Osgood in 1998, not because of him. Watch the recaps of those entire 1998 playoffs, and you'll see him give up so many mindblowingly bad goals. Quick was the exact opposite in 2012 (of course the goalie position changed since 1998). Eventually, Ozzie was moved after some subpar performances against Colorado in the playoffs, and that 2001 disaster against LA. If Quick sucks several seasons in a row in the postseason, he may get the same treatment. -

Tootoo would at least fire up the crowd and not be afraid to drop the gloves against a player any size. Babcock and Holland don't like players like that. I still don't know why they signed Tootoo. I also don't know why they obtained Legwand and have put him on a line with jobbers. Maybe they're punishing former Nashville players. -

Fans are less likely to blame a goalie who's a few seasons removed from taking the franchise where it's never been before. Howard is playing in Hockeytown and can't get past the 2nd round. Of course our fans are going to react more harshly than LA fans towards Quick. A player has to prove himself before he can get some kind of immunity from a fanbase. -

If Weiss were healthy, Legwand wouldn't be in Detroit. Those two aren't much different at this point. Datsyuk isn't healthy because he's frequently not healthy. His age is also a problem. When was the last time this team was healthy throughout the season? Can't be a coincidence. -
