A great scrap ends in....A high five and a hug?
GMRwings1983 replied to Jersey Wing's topic in General
A picture of Nietzsche explains everything perfectly. At least it does for me. The answer to your first bolded question is because it's more fun for me to watch hockey fights when there's a heated rivalry between teams and when a player steps in to enforce for his teammate. It's what I think of when it comes to rivalries and playoff series. So yes, it's more fun for me when a fight happens in that situation than any other. Why is it more fun for me? I don't know. Because it's what I prefer. The second question is also a subjective answer. I understand these guys are buddies and have respect for one another, but they made it look way too theatrical. I've seen guys like Probert or Domi pat guys on the back after a fight, but these guys went over the top. Also, remember that this is the LNAH, where every game seems to have a quota of at least 3 or 4 fights. It's a joke league. Stuff like this is why I've grown to like staged fights less over the years. -

Nothing else to say besides the picture, but I'm not smart enough to leave it at that, so I'll add this. Meaning is subjective. I assign little meaning to the staged fight ending in hugs, and more to fights that result from bad blood and rivalries. You disagreed with my opinion and assigned more meaning to the fight ending with the hug. No use arguing about what does and doesn't have more meaning when it's so subjective. Did I really need to post all that? -
Philly deserves to be in the playoffs with the roll they're on. They're doing something we need to be doing, which is putting a streak together.

Well, that's your opinion. I've already stated mine. -
The reason he can't score is because he's 40 years old and is probably distracted by this prolonged Steve Moore business.

Of course it has, but I think it's more prevalent nowadays, especially with the staged fights. Like I said, they're still fun to watch but I could do without the hugging and kissing. -

No, fighting has a place in hockey. These kind of fights are sometimes fun, but meaningless if guys are hugging it out like that afterwards. Fights due to bad blood or jumping in for fallen teammates are more fun and more meaningful. -

It's OK. Bertuzzi will save us in the shootout............... -
I know. I'm just saying what I'd like to see in fantasy land.

Meh. Guys like Dave Brown or Bob Probert would never get that theatrical after a fight. I realize it's a job and some of these guys are close friends, but this is making the whole thing look like a joke. -
It could mean our coach sucks at making adjustments. Or that our goalie gives up back breaking goals.
-
What's the record when leading after 2?
-
Scoring became a problem when butterfly goalies started taking over. It won't change as long as they're schooled so well. The bigger pads and equipment help also, but it's mostly the schooling and training from an early age at that position. I say force all the goalies to play stand-up style again.

Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the softest team of all?
-
Our leaders put the team in jeopardy by playing hurt in the Olympics. These other leaders you refer to are veterans, but they're not in the same league in terms of talent. We're not making the playoffs without Datsyuk and Zetterberg, no matter how many other old players we have.
-
Dan Cleary deserves to end his career on a Cup contender. Not on this s*** team.
-
And to think we all wanted to be in the East, just so we wouldn't have to stay up late for playoff games. Guess we don't have to worry about that anyway.
-
Datsyuk can go finish the season in the KHL for all I care.
-
This team is so hopeless that even Crymson doesn't care anymore.
-
The vanilla midgets that comprise this team are getting injured every game. Nobody seems to be returning from injury soon, including the two best players.

Andersson breaks foot - down another center

Cleary can play center. Can take draws, is responsible defensively and a good leader. When is he coming back again? -
Well, a really good number one defenseman can play well at both ends in a pressure packed situation. Kronwall was good defensively, but we needed so much more from him on the offensive side and never got it. Our powerplay struggled late in the series.
