I didn't know he was an intern all this time. I thought he was being paid millions to put the Red Wings first and foremost on his list of priorities when it comes to hockey. Point is, the team has rewarded him for what he's done for it over the years. That's why he's a multi-millionaire, unlike any of us. But he's also under contract this season to perform for the team. There is no immunity because of the past as long as one is making big bucks in the present. If he's healthy and wants to play for his country, great. If he's hurt and is in danger of aggravating an existing injury to play in the Olympics, then it's not OK. If he's even more hurt to the point where he would only play for the Olympic team and not his NHL team in similar circumstances, then that is the worst scenario. I hope that's not what happened here.

Could care less if NHL players don't play in the Olympics again. Unless the games are in North America, you can't watch any of them live without quitting your job. And the primetime evening coverage doesn't show re-runs of hockey. They only had one channel showing the evening coverage when most people have returned from their workdays. One the bright side, I got to see plenty of figure skating and women in khaki pants doing stupid stunts on a snowboard.

Of course that's what I figured, but I wasn't sure if the film had an actual curling reference or not. I couldn't remember any.

Both teams lost to their rivals yesterday, and neither must have been thrilled about playing today instead of the Gold medal game. However, Finland came to play for the Bronze. The US doesn't look like they want to be there.

The only Canadians I like.

The backup goalie is different, isn't it? Backup goalies always get their names on the Cup, even if they didn't play in the playoffs. Doesn't work that way for skaters who play less than 41 games and no playoff appearances. Not sure how the Olympics work, though.

I hope Putin has him killed before the games are over. Bob Costas has ruined that last several Olympics for me.

Nah, I'm not that savvy. Would be nice if primetime coverage would show re-runs of hockey like they do other Olympic events (FIGURE SKATING!!!), but Bob Costas would never go for that.

Is there any way to watch these games if you have a job? No I don't have TiVo.

Actually, I don't think he's better than Ozzie. Ozzie's accomplishments are indeed inflated because of the talent around him, but every goalie who won multiple Cups had lots of talent around him. Howard is a step down from Ozzie.

I guess. I'd like to watch too, but the Olympic schedule isn't very friendly to viewing times on this side of the planet.

Ozzie on his best day wouldn't win the Cup with this roster. In 1998, the Wings won in spite of Osgood, when they had a tremendous and motivated roster. In 2008 and 2009, he was great, but the team was also great, especially defensively. This team is garbage. I guess that actually excuses Howard somewhat, but I wouldn't use Ozzie as a comparison to him. The Wings just aren't the team we used to be and the Cup is not a realistic goal for this type of roster. Except, he's going to the Olympics too.

He doesn't block shots, because he knows that he's 90% better than all the other #1's in the NHL.

The two Russian kids and Bourbon J.T.S. Brown totally skated laps around our pathetic defenders today. For who? Half the team is going to the Olympics to play a grueling schedule.

Reggie Miller? Well, at least he can shoot.

Because our players party their asses off during these trips.

He won't do anything during the deadline. Our deadline acquisition will be Johan Franzen. The excuses are running out for this team and some of the fans here.

Embarrassing loss. So much for getting healthy. The defense is healthy and are terrible. Howard gives up that soft goal at the end of the 2nd that Patrick Lalime could have stopped. This team has a lot of issues.

Well, he basically grabbed him from behind with no intention of doing anything. Lashoff is a useless plug.

So bad that it should be spelled Eriksson.

Perfect summary of this season. Enjoy the Olympic break. Told you guys our sucking wasn't just related to injuries. We can't even beat this s*** team playing without their best player.

J.T.S. Brown should be punished for going after Zetterberg there.
