Agreed with your entire post until that line. I think we're an average team, like last season. We'll have some winning streaks (like earlier), followed by streaks like this. I'm disappointed, but not surprised, since I don't think we have all the tools to win. Unless by "tools", you were talking about another interpretation of that word, like Cleary, Sammy, Quincey, Smith, Bertuzzi, Weiss, etc.

Why be surprised? This was a .500 team last season. Not like we signed Crobsy and Chara in the offseason.

Too many old, slow players. Inserting young blood into the lineup last year resulted in this team playing faster and better. How many other teams have so many older forwards playing on the roster every night? However, even with young blood, last year we finished at .500 in the playoffs. This team doesn't really have that much talent. You can see evidence of that in a hammer-hands scrub like Abdelkader playing on the top line. How many other good teams have a player of his caliber playing as a top winger? I think guys like Tatar and Nyquist will make us better, but ultimately, the problem is deeper than just two players. More driven talent is needed in the lineup.

We won't have enough capspace for an acquisition. Holland made sure of that with the pointless signing of "he who shall not be named"
