I thought the young guys are the reason the Wings played so much better in last year's playoffs than the year before. That 3rd line rejuvenated the team. Now, Brunner is gone, while Nyquist is in the minors.

So does Cleary. Playing on the top line should primarily involve skill, not just being a hard worker. Not saying, Cleary has the skill either. I'd put Alfie or one of the young kids there. -

I can't believe that two veterans like Pavel and Hank don't have enough pull on the team to ask Babcock to make a change there. They shouldn't have to play with "hammer hands Abby" on their line. -

They have no identity, especially on the 4th line. Someone should explain to Babcock and Holland that the 4th line should be a checking/energy line, preferably with bigger forwards and good checkers. Not a line where you just put a bunch of scrubs who don't fit onto the other lines or together. It's been this way for years. -

I'll be devil's advocate here. What team in hockey would trade a top defenseman for a goalie? This is a goalie's league, with teams having great goalies coming out of the minors all the time. A top defenseman, on the other hand, is hard to find.

Good win. Hope to see some lineup changes next game, though. Also, NBCSports needs to fix its video. Arena looked way too dark today. Like the Hawks arena. Pretty sure I wasn't drinking.

But his numbers would be a lot higher than playing with Abdelkader. We've seen Datsyuk disappear for stretches in the last few years because of his linemates. A passing center like him should have a winger that can bury those chances.
