This will help them somewhat when Toronto, Boston and Ottawa goon it up against them.
-
I hate seeing a right handed shot leaving, especially since we have so few of them nowadays. Yeah we got Alfredsson, but how many years is he going to play here?
-
Weiss is an improvement over Filppula, but I'd rather have had Lecavalier for a similar price. Brunner is definitely an improvement over Alfredsson. Alfie is 40. Brunner is much younger. You guys are thinking short term if you'd rather have Alfie. As in "really" short term. Guy might retire after the season. I also wanted us to get a little bigger and gritter to play against. Not sure how this accomplishes that. Yeah, Holland doesn't seem to like big, gritty forwards. Even on the checking lines, let alone the top two lines. I think it's important to have balance. We have too many vanilla midgets on the roster. Yep. I'd rather have Vinny than Weiss, for these prices.

Big deal. Domi elbowed Niederwhiner in the face, and I didn't have a problem with that. Niedermayer swung his stick at Worrell's head and picked a fight with Datsyuk. Then there was that fake retirement crap where he and Salami only played half the season to avoid the cap. Also, he was a diver and a whiner. Guy was a piece of s***.

One more than Filppula!

Chris Simon?
-
I hope he remembers what happened to Mike Modano. Granted, Alfredsson is Swedish and shoots right handed, but this move would come a few years too late.
-
Hey, Bootland scored 20 goals the last two seasons. He's improved since he left the Odessa Jackalopes. I'm all for it.
-
I know we don't have very much top 6 depth or quality. It'd be nice if we could get a real winger. Not sure if Grabovski fits that role. Alfredsson was good, but he's old and didn't put up good numbers last year. Bertuzzi should retire. I wasn't sure about the Lecavalier move, but now that he's gone, I'm realizing that would have been the best linemate for Datsyuk, even though Vinny is also sliding downwards. Our options are limited for sure.
-
That's not good enough playing on the top line, with players like Datsyuk. Datsyuk deserved a 40 goal scorer. 30 at least. Besides, I don't even remember what Bertuzzi plays like with Datsyuk. I don't remember what Bertuzzi plays like, period. He's a goner.
-
Bertuzzi on the top line? Guy is like 40 and didn't even play last season. I sure hope he isn't playing on the top line next year. That doesn't say much about our lineup.
-
No, Garbo was Swedish. Maybe we should sign him then.
-
So good, they nicknamed him after a silent film legend. "I want to be alone"
-
Yeah, but I'm saying that he's not just some 4th liner with a few good seasons. He's proven he's better and deserves a pay increase. I wouldn't give him 42 million, though.
-
Really? Those one or two seasons are better than our current 4th liners have ever had.
-
Didn't Holland say he wanted us to get bigger? Those names don't really help.

Help on "D" - Kenny should be calling Boston
GMRwings1983 replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
Right, because we only have mistake free defensemen on this roster. He plays his ass off and is great at blocking shots and is a big body. I'm not saying he's the next Larry Robinson, but he'd be a good player to have in the lineup. I like him better than a Lashoff. The other young defensemen in the system are still a few years away from being ready. -
No. I was thinking this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNj9bXKGOiI

I'd love to have all those right handed forwards Boston seems to possess. Defensively, I'd take a Boychuk. -
Pretty much. Holland is obsessed with old geysers who aren't that good anymore. Did Bertuzzi or Samuelsson even play last season? Why are they being given another chance to get injured? I remember Cleary playing, because we all made countless jokes about him throughout the year, but he actually played well in the playoffs. But still, its time to be fully committed to a youth movement. We'd have enough veterans with Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Kronwall to have a balanced lineup with experience and youth. He moves like he's 44. Ric Flair is in better shape than him.
-
Yeah, because Clarkson is just some enforcer. That being said, I'd spend 5 million on McGrattan.
-
But those were later picks. In later rounds, things become even harder to predict. Earlier round picks are more scrutinized, hence Holland is getting some criticism with the guys he chose after Mantha.
-
LOL. Holland anticipating the sadness of a useless Todd Bertuzzi retiring, decides to draft a nephew of his, ensuring that his lineage in Detroit continues. I hope Samuelsson and Cleary don't have any relatives in this draft or others.
