I honestly don't see why either he or the organization would make that move. He wouldn't come back for a cheap deal and the organization doesn't need to be signing 41 year olds. Bringing Yzerman in would definitely ignite the fans. Some decent free agent acquisitions as well. Oh and firing Blashill as well, though I don't believe he should go before Holland does.

Datsyuk is too old. This is already the oldest team in the league. May as well bring back Red Kelly.

The organization is the problem. Not the fans. The arena having a bunch of amenities is just an excuse to avoid talking about why people really aren't in the seats. Because the team sucks and the ticket prices are too high. The painting of the seats still irks me. If I were a drunken employee, I'd mark each black seat with a red X. That would make it more visible on the TV that nobody is sitting there.

They need to somehow recoup having one of the highest payrolls in the league the last few season. It's just sad all around.

I don't care what color Detroit's favorite pizza family wants to paint the seats. You could tell midway through the 3rd period that half the seats visible on the screen were black. I doubt people were shooting pool at the recreational room or enjoying the new bathroom facilities at that stage of the game. This team has become largely irrelevant to Detroit the last three seasons. The only way to awake the fans is a regime change.

This team was just cockteasing us. There was never going to be a comeback.

This is the start of our comeback this season. It will end with a Stanley Cup win in June.

They did in 2017 and 2018. They're second to the Blues in 2019. The point is made though. They're one of the worst teams on paper the last few seasons. They have the highest payroll in the NHL during that span. What does that say about Ken Holland? It says he's overpaying players who don't deserve it. He should be fired. Instead, he can resign whenever he wants to. He has immunity at this job from the Ilitches. It's hard to have interest in this team with him still running the show.

I think they did fight once. There is no definition of an enforcer nowadays. How about anyone who fights more than five times in a season? That sounds like a rarity these days. More the latter. He's a great hitter and is dirty but he's never been known as a fighter.

Probably Reeves. Wilson is not really an enforcer. Reeves thinks he's tougher than he is, but he's a fat fish in a small pond. He's likely the closest to a real enforcer. Just has nobody to fight with.

Because most NHL franchises play in the U.S. Hence most fans are in the U.S. Same thing with TV ratings. The league doesn't need to cater to Canada. Hockey is already popular there. It would have been better for the league to have McDavid in a U.S. market. Really any market. Obviously New York, Boston, or Chicago would have been best but they weren't in the running for McDavid sweepstakes that year in the draft.
