We won our Cups mostly with skill. We had grit as well, especially 1997 and 1998. None of that matters here. I'm talking about this particular team. This team has no grit whatsoever and won't outwork anybody in a series. Howard has never shown that he can steal an entire playoff series, let alone several in one year. He's shown he can outduel the terrible Bryzgalov. Big deal. They've shown what ability to play tight defense? Have you watched this season? We can play a good defensive game here and there, but not anything consistent. The turnovers you alluded to explain why this is not a good defense. Doesn't matter what they can be in the future. We're talking about this team and their ability to make long playoff runs NOW. We can't be any of those things this season. Are we talking about the same roster? Where are you getting these adjectives from?

So you think this team can play with the same blueprint that those underdogs did? If you do, you can envision things I can't see. We're none of those things I described on the last page. Our roster isn't built that way. Or we're afraid to become like Montreal Canadiens fans.

I'm talking about style of playing and roster type. Not records. Read what I wrote about it on the last page.

None of those teams played like this one. I don't trust Holland to make those trades anymore. He threw away our top pick last year for Kyle Quincey.

Meaning we're not thinking as long term as you'd like. We have enough similar prospects, where we can afford to trade some of them away.

Everyone thinks they're still the best GM and coach in the league, based on the past. I suppose everyone thinks Francis Ford Coppola is still the best director in the world?

Work ethic. Physicality. Tight defense. No mistakes. Hot goaltending. That's how those teams beat higher seeds. We have none of that. I'm tired of this argument and having to explain it over and over again.

But we might be renting Filppula if he doesn't re-sign in the offseason. May as well have moved him. Remember Stuart last year?

So he can walk in the offseason like Ryan Clowe was supposedly going to do.

Umm.........neither guy is back yet and probably won't be. So even Holland can't use that stupid excuse anymore.

Although it's not as bad as someone bringing up the '71 Canadiens as an example.

A team with two star players, surrounded by jobbers and vanilla midgets shouldn't make the playoffs.
