So basically, being a 6'3 spotpicker who scores goals and fights against non-fighters makes one a power forward in today's NHL? You may be right in saying that's what today's league has become, but that's a pretty sad and pathetic outlook. Why should I feel sorry if that's how you and others view Perry? Shame on you guys.
-
Like hell he would. Those guys I mentioned would drop them with anyone. Don't forget, Perry also fought Rafalski of all people. Guy is a spotpicking wuss.
-
No, I just don't think of Perry as a power forward. Like I said, it's a Tocchet, Shanny, Neely type of player. Those guys were all way more physical than him and were real fighters, not whimps posing as fighters. I guess the definition of a power forward has changed nowadays, which is why people don't understand how old school fans like me can't see Perry as a real power forward.

Leave Britn.............................I mean Cleary alone. -
If Tatar fused together with Franzen, then we might have some kind of power forward. Maybe.
-
Nah. We have poor luck with Germans. Look at Krupp.
-
Kind of like when Red Kelly went to the Leafs and became a great forward?
-
Look at the first page if you want my definition of a "power forward" in a traditional sense. Don't know where I mentioned Tatar's name. Hell no! 4 or 5 fights (against guys like Datsyuk), hardly makes one a league leader in fighting majors. You don't watch much hockey, do you?

For once, praising Holland's refusal to make a trade

Wow, that was an even worse asking price than the Quincey trade! -
Perry is a puss. I forgot Clarkson but said so in a later post. Horton? He's alright. Seems to be a good fit in Boston.
-
Clowe has scored 266 points in 413 games. Slightly more offense? And he's a really good fighter and hitter to boot. He's had a really tough star to the season, but I wouldn't put him down to Abdelkader level yet.
-
Yeah, he's gotten much better. I used to think of him as a fighter, but he has become a "power forward" in the traditional sense . So I will revise my previous statement to include him. Don't know why he'd be available, though.

Meh. I doubt we'd be sabotaging our chances of winning every night, just to trade some useless plug. Then again, I don't know why he's playing on the 2nd line instead of Tatar, who is actually scoring right now. If they need a mindless grinder on that line, they already have Cleary. Makes no sense. -
I guess that's what it's defined as now. Different league.
-
Not a traditional power forward. Like I said, big guys who can score, hit and fight. Jagr is big and can score, but he's never been an aggressive player. Not to mention, he's an old man. Though I would take him for one season, just because he's an upgrade over our crap right now.

Who would want Abdelkader? I wouldn't trade anything for him if I was a GM. Players like that are widely available. 1 point in 22 games? Nobody wants that. -
Shows you how there aren't any good power forwards anymore. Only true power forwards there are Iginla and Clowe. Others aren't power forwards or are washed up (Morrow). When I think power forward, I think of Howe, Tocchet or Shanahan. Guy who can score, hit and fight.
-
With Holland's previous trade record of idiocy, the Leafs wouldn't take anything less than another top pick. i.e. Quincey.
-
Power forward, huh?
-
Cap hit is too high if we have to swallow that.

Parros - 2 points in 19 games Abdelkader - 1 point in 22 games Hence, Parros is twice as good as Abdelkader. Another miss by Holland. -

Nah. Players would be too tired for that. So would fans. -

Yeah, but those rule changes were good for the game. Shootouts still divide fans and make less sense than the "forward pass" as you say it. -

But like my last argument, that's not very realistic hockey either. 3 on 3 hardly ever happens. Why let it decide games. I honestly remember plenty of OT goals being scored before shootouts, and for that matter, before 4 on 4 was introduced. Maybe it's my memory, but I saw nothing wrong with it. Good teams still went for wins. -
He should play on the PGA tour. That was a great chip.
