It's hard to blame injuries when you lose at home to a s***ty team like Columbus. They don't have a Datsyuk or Zetterberg on their team. Wings should have won this game handily.
-
Holland would be an ******* to fire Babcock, crappy line combos and all. If either of those two goes, it should be Holland, who's allowed this team to deteriorate over the years, while signing guys like Samuelsson and Colaicovo. If only that Yzerman guy was still here in the front office.
-
Anyone else getting pissed that the Wings can't hold leads

Our games remind me of FIFA 12. As soon as you go up 2-0, you know the other team will make it 2-2 eventually. -
I've always blamed Holland for this team's problems, but Babcock is weird with his lineups. Our "so-called" top prospect is in the minors, while talentless hacks are playing on the 2nd line and on the powerplay.
-
It's never just one person's fault. Brunner turned it over and he's to blame. But a goalie's job is to stop shots, not just to stop easy shots. That was a good chance for Columbus, and Howard looked totally lost on that play. He should also be blamed.
-
Him too. But Howard went down too easily. He likes doing that when he's clueless.
-
If these losers miss the the playoffs, everyone will blame injuries. Truth is, with a healthy lineup, there's no way this team wins a playoff series. It's a crappy result either way.
-
Thanks Howard.
-
Many years from now, we'll look back on this team and joke about how bad they were. "Hey remember that season when we had Dan Cleary and Brian Lashoff playing the powerplay"?
-
Lidstrom's plus/minus sucked too, several seasons ago. Kronwall gives us something no other defensemen can. Quincey gives us nothing.
-
Huh? He's the only defenseman who's scoring for us. Quincey is scoring about as often as the Pope right now.
-
Quincey is not a big loss. Smith will be back and Kindl will just be plugged back into the lineup in the meantime.
-
We're a dirty team. I feel ashamed of this squad.

Howard to start tonight + projected line up

Why isn't Nyquist playing with Datsyuk instead of Cleary and Abdelkader? Does Babcock think those guys are better top 6 players? -
Bryzgalov is terrible. If not for him, the Wings would have a 4 year drought of winning a playoff series.
-
Datsyuk has probably been dangling our crappy defense in practice all season. His stick handling is only bound to get even better going up against White, Quincey and Kronwall every day.
-
If the Wings obtained McGrattan and Scott tomorrow, would you stop becoming a fan? Instigator didn't kill enforcers, it just wounded them. There's plenty of one-dimensional players still playing in the NHL.
-
That's a very debatable topic always. People say some guys don't bring anything besides fighting, but we have several players in our lineup who seem not to bring anything at all. What have Miller, Eaves, Abdelkader, Emmerton or Cleary brought us this season? This isn't the 2002 Wings we're talking about.
-
Top 3 NHL fighter? Yikes. He might be a top 3 power forward type fighter, but he'd get killed if he regularly fought McGrattan, Erskine or Orr.
-
That's true. A team like Montreal would be the smartest to get a guy like McGrattan, because teams like Toronto and Boston in their own division are loaded with tough guys, and frequently bully Montreal. The Blues are the best example of a team in our division who's way more physical, dresses many tough guys and has frequently bullied our soft team over the years. I'd love to have a McGrattan type player against them.

Jack Edwards is the horrible, homer announcer of the Bruins who has an obsession with thinking that Lucic is the best fighter in hockey history. My top 10 list? Depends on if you count AHL fighters or not, like McGrattan, who occasionally play in the NHL. Actually, even if you only count NHL regulars, I'd still I'd be unlikely to include Lucic.
-
Pick who up? Lucic? The Bruins aren't letting him go. Scott is unlikely to go anywhere since the Sabres just signed him. In any case, he's slow and would never be signed by Holland. Even Babcock wouldn't likely want him. Scott is just big, which is why he wins most his fights. I wouldn't mind having him because of entertainment value and occasional games where we need the rough stuff, but it won't happen. And the Preds are unlikely to dress McGrattan against us. I don't remember him being used against the Wings before to rough anybody up.
-
He's lost to Erskine, Neil and Vandermeer just to name a few. Not saying he's a bad fighter, I just think saying he's "easily top 10" is pushing it. In any case, I didn't start his bad rep. You're more than welcome to go to dropyourgloves or hockeyfights and try to prove the majority wrong about Lucic. Good luck with that. You have no idea how hated he is for his spotpicking around those circles.
-
Even if they fight and entertain the "always bored" JLA crowd?
-
Are you Jack Edwards by any chance? A heavyweight enforcer isn't necessarily someone who is actually "heavy". Tie Domi and Joey Kocur just to name a few. A "heavy" in hockey is someone who fights other top enforcers all the time. He doesn't, which is why he's labeled a spotpicker by about 75% of the posters on hockeyfights or dropyourgloves. He has some wins against top heavies, but he's had some losses as well. The problem is he doesn't fight great enforcers that often. Unfortunately, the pure enforcer doesn't play that often in the NHL anymore, either. Mostly in the AHL. In any case, he's not a top 10 fighter. BTW, posting the video of him hiding behind the ref in the Orr fight doesn't help your cause.
