    Howard = Average

Why are people offended when Howard is called average? Is that a derogatory term?

The Good, the Bad (or average), and the Ugly

Great movie. Unfortunately, it's a misused and misunderstood title. Quincey belongs in the ugly part. He's not scoring, not defending, not hitting, etc. Getting paid well, though. Brunner should be in the good. He's made some mistakes, but he's scoring and exceeding expectations.

    Soccer!

ManU parked the bus and squeaked away with a tie. It's a shame that a team with their money and resources has to play like that. I thought they were the big bad wolf in England. For me, Benzema and Higuain were duds. The final ball wasn't there, but they couldn't generate many good chances or get open enough. Modric is useless. Should have stayed in London. Rooney and Van Persie didn't have many good chances. Van Persie should have buried at least one of his. They're not used to counterattacking the whole game, though. Real can certainly beat them at Old Trafford, but ManU will be more offensive themselves. Second leg will be awesome. It was incredible seeing these two teams on the pitch at the same time.

2/15 GDT : Anaheim Ducks 5 at Red Wings 2

Honestly, this team wasn't that good last year in the playoffs, when they were relatively healthy. This defense looked shaky even when the season began and they were together.

He's played well, but will likely be sent down when Sammy and Bert come back.

    Time to sit Ian White

Even Ian White's hockey stick doesn't like him anymore. "Man can't trust his own stick, don't belong on ice"

2/15 GDT : Anaheim Ducks 5 at Red Wings 2

Don't know why. Mrazek played great in his one game, and he can't get in again. Babcock's decisions are baffling sometimes.

Would anyone be upset if Quincey just grabbed Getzlaf and started pounding away?

2/15 GDT : Anaheim Ducks 5 at Red Wings 2

Since we have no chance of winning this game, why can't Tootoo, Ericsson, Quincey and Abby goon it up a little here?

So do any of our gimps....I mean players, return from injury anytime soon?

    Datsyuk "upper body injury"

Sitting on a problem is never a good idea. You can't deny this team has been riddled with injuried the last few seasons. This year has barely started, and we already have more guys out than anyone else.

    Datsyuk "upper body injury"

This team is bad with injuries every year, which makes me question the medical staff and the kinds of preparations these players go through before games. You can't just attribute it to bad luck when it happens so often and seemingly yearly.

    Bertuzzi's continuing back problems

My reasoning is very good. Bert shouldn't be in the top 6 and neither should Tatar. Nyquist is not a checker but a top 6 player. Either play him in that spot or leave him in GR. And I wouldn't split up Brunner and Hank just yet. So that leaves Nyquist on that line I proposed. Maybe you could put Franzen on the top line instead of him, but Franzen makes Datsyuk look neutered. Zetterberg seems to handle Franzen better on his line.

    Bertuzzi's continuing back problems

Oh so with Cleary on that line, they will score goals?

    Bertuzzi's continuing back problems

Nyquist should play with Datsyuk and Flip. I want to see if that can be a long-term line.

    Bertuzzi's continuing back problems

Somewhere, Steve Moore (DraperFan), is laughing.

    Bertuzzi's continuing back problems

Sucks mostly because we have other injuries right now. We could have used another body back in the lineup. But we know he wasn't part of the plan for the future, so it had to end soon anyway. Surprisingly, he missed very few games for the Wings his first couple of seasons back in Detroit. Was kind of an ironman for a while.

"Top Red Wings of the last 20 years" Team

Golubovsky, Butsayev, Leino, etc. BTW, since Ellis, Hussey and Langfeld were actually a real line, you should have put them together.

    For some good news....

    s***. Close thread.

"Top Red Wings of the last 20 years" Team

What makes you think they'd be just as good without Deveraux?
  21. GMRwings1983

    For some good news....

We're lucky not to have any big losing streaks. The standings are so tight, that three straight wins/losses can make a tremendous difference in where you're seeded. It'll probably be that way even with 75% of the season gone.

    Justin Abdelkader

I've thought for a few years that he was expendable. He'll likely be guaranteed a spot on the 4th line, even when everyone is healthy, but that's not saying much. Seems like he used to hit everything when he was first called up years ago. Not so anymore.

"Top Red Wings of the last 20 years" Team

Well, it was a preference list, not who I think are Hall of Famers and what not. Notice, I put Dandenault in there as well.

"Top Red Wings of the last 20 years" Team

Shanahan - Yzerman - Fedorov Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Maltby - Draper - McCarty Grimson - Larionov - Kocur Lidstrom - Chelios Fetisov - Lilja Coffey - Dandenault Hasek Osgood

That's what I meant. You guys.........
