They try to stop fights quickly when someone's jersey goes over their head. For player safety I guess.

He's struggling at getting pucks through screens on the powerplay. Lidstrom was a master at that. Not having that has really hurt this powerplay.

Tootoo has already had two fights. I expect either Ericsson or Smith to answer the bell here. There could be more fireworks later in this game.

There's definitely a lot of people around the NHL who want to fight Tootoo. He's pissed off many people over the years. I guess the Wings knew that before they signed him.

Probably has to do with padding. Although, there have been certain fighters in the past that have used body shots more than others.

Seems like the last 4 games we've played have been powerplay fests, for or against. Remember when hockey used to be fun to watch?

I don't like Real Madrid that much (although I do respect their prestige), but I've always liked Casillas. He's the best keeper of his generation. Adan is not in his league and this will hurt their Champions League chances. And I don't see Mourinho surviving after this season after alienating and benching Casillas, who's a God in Madrid. But like I said above, United has their own goalie issues.

How many of those North American players do you see getting called up anytime soon. Actually, how many of those players you listed are North Americans? Hell, I've been wondering if Callahan will ever get called up to play numerous games.

The problem is that we have too many undersized, skill players, not that he or anyone else happens to be undersized individually. A little diversity in the farm system wouldn't hurt.

I'm convinced that Nightfall (Jim Carey) should be our goalie from now on. Howard is just not cutting it. -

LA and Boston had a much better top 6 in their Cups than our top 6 this season. And their bottom lines were grittier and harder to play against in a playoff series, than our bottom six forwards this year. There's nothing about this lineup that screams success and long playoff run. You either have a team built on great talent, which we don't have much of anymore, or a team built on hot goaltending and grit/stellar defense, which we don't have either. This team has no identity. -

This team was a better team in the first half of last season than they are now. We got off to a good start last season from what I remember. No one is saying Howard is bad, but he's not "elite". Teams who are lower seeds need elite goalies, like Kiprusoff in 2004 or Quick last season. I don't see Howard putting up those kinds of numbers. Do you? -

Howard is a mediocre goalie who gets paid like a mediocre goalie. We can't expect any more from him. Problem is, this team isn't good enough for that anymore. We need a goalie who can steal playoff series and carry a team. Like all the other 7 and 8 seeds who have had success in recent years. I don't see that in Howard. -

At least we got a cheap point. Brunner was awful there. Didn't cover his man and made up for it by deflecting the puck into his own net. Guy has a lot to learn on that side of the ice. -
