Kisio and Turgeon don't have better numbers than Fedorov in the playoffs, nor did they make a bigger impact in their careers. I fail to see your point there. The Samuelsson jib is funny, but I wasn't just lauding Fedorov because he's a better physical specimen than Datsyuk. He utilized his skills to become a future Hall of Famer. I doubt Datsyuk is a Hall of Fame player at this point. Goalie equipment has gotten smaller, but even so, Fedorov still had a better and more powerful shot than Datsyuk. He'd have scored more goals in any generation. Both guys are complete players, but the things Fedorov did better than Pavel, he did by a greater margin, more so than the things Pavel can do better than Fedorov. Tretiak and Kharlamov are both better all-time than Fetisov, imo. I might even put some others ahead of him, but those two for sure.

Fedorov. Just better numbers for both regular season and playoffs in a Wings uniform. As slick and crafty as Datsyuk is, he doesn't have the speed or shot that Fedorov had. Sergei was more of a physical specimen and more of a star player to me.

With his injury troubles, I wish he'd just stay here.

Best fighter I would say Brashear. Although, with fighters it's different, because with youtube videos, I've seen just about all of Probert or Wilson's fights. You can't just watch a video of Gretzky or Howe's highlights to understand how great they really were. You have to watch them in a game format to see their dominance. But for my era, watching live fights, I'd say Brashear.

Too lazy to create a whole team, but I'm pretty sure Lidstrom is the best I've ever seen. Best goalie would be Hasek or Roy. Best forward would likely be Lemieux.

Worse than our offense. With Lidstrom gone, those long tape to tape passes up ice will be few and far between.

I thought Howard carried this team in the regular season last season. Our defense had big names, but he still stood on his head many nights. I'm not sure what you mean. Are you talking about a defense with no big names and a goalie who's a big name? Like say the Sabres with Hasek and Miller? If that's it, I can't think of the last time we had that kind of team. Then again, I don't think of Howard as an "elite" goalie. Doesn't play like it in the playoffs, and doesn't get paid like it either. He's a good goalie, but nothing more at this point.

But that wouldn't happen, because then Boston would go after Tootoo, and he can't compete with their bigger guys. That's the point. I think Tootoo would be much more effective in Detroit if we had a legit heavy in the lineup backing him up. I think he'll still play hard, but I doubt we'll see the same edginess and occasional dirty stuff from Tootoo, that we've seen in the past.

Verbeek scored 500 goals in his career. You guys are giving Marchand way too much credit comparing him to Verbeek. As I've said before, Marchand could only exist on a team like Boston. If he played for the Wings, he'd get his ass kicked by opposing teams, with no one to protect him.
