2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The Ratings Busters strike again. Speaking of that, the chick behind Jersey's bench is packing heat. -
Franzen led the team in GWG during the regular season and the playoffs. Don't forget that.

That's why the refs should have been instructed to allow the Rangers in the Final. (Like the NBA) Hope the league is enjoying these ratings. Those "fans" in LA won't even know who Bettman is to boo him tomorrow night during the Cup presentation. -
Habs to name Michel Therrien head coach

Amazing how many players have worn his number 20, since he left Detroit. My favorite Lapointe moment was any moment when he sported that awesome goatee. -

They should just hand the Cup out right now. -
That could go either way. Franzen also has health issues and is inconsistent. Also, he's older than the other players. And we're not that deep at center, especially if Helm is traded. Emmerton was a regular center for us last year for Pete's sake. And Kindl didn't seem to progress that much. Green is a right handed shot and could compliment Suter well if we get him. Laich is a solid performer and plays hard (also born on the same day and year as me ). I don't think the trade is unfair, but I'm not entirely sold on it. Like I said above, if we don't get Parise, we'd be getting rid of another top 6 forward in Franzen with nothing similar in return. Throw in Erskine for good faith. It'll make me feel better.
-
I hate him currently as well. However, we've had players on this franchise before who've committed much more despicable acts.
-
I don't see this trade helping either team that much. Franzen is a lazy idiot, but trading him is stupid unless we get an offensive scorer going the other way. What if we don't get Parise? Then we'll have even less reliable scoring at forward than before. And Washington would be trading their best offensive defenseman for Kindl?

2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

The Kings have gone up 2-0 in every series (3-0 actually), despite having a long layoff for every series and starting on the road. Incredible. No one has ever done this. -

So why was there 2 days off between games one and two, but 1 day in between the next game, when the teams have to travel cross country? Is the NHL afraid of Lebron or something? -

Darryl Sutter is one goofy looking dude. -
I'm not saying he was ever bad, but every player has some stage in their career when they're at their best. His had to be either from 2001-2003 or right after the lockout, when had that incredible 2006 season. I guess with Lidstrom, it's harder to pick what that period was, than with other players.
-
What would you guys say was Lidstrom's prime? I'd say 2006, because of the amazing season he had that year statistically (although the playoffs ended terribly). Scary thing is, he was 35 or 36 at the time. Not when you typically expect an athlete to be in their prime and having their best season.
-
It was the year I was born. I had just finished my first year in college.
-
Honestly, we didn't look too good once everyone came back either. This team needs to have a "huge" offseason for a usually pessimistic LGW to be optimistic. Hard to feel good when the backbone of the franchise for 10 years has just retired.
-
I wish it was 10 years ago. The Wings were great, gas was cheap, and I was young with long hair and no worries about the future.
-
Maybe they can draw straws......
-
You're kinda slow, because I knew it was going to be line combos before I even clicked on the thread.
-
It'll be tough making the playoffs next season unless we have a huge offseason signing. We finished 5th this season and the West is getting more and more competitive each year. Also, the Wings looked putrid when Lidstrom was injured late in the season. It'll likely be a dogfight to get one of those last few spots. A Parise or Suter would make that easier of course.
-
Other than Gordie Howe, who was pushing 50, who else played hockey at such a high level in their early 40's?
-
Why hasn't anyone mentioned Franzen's name?
-
You mean espn has actually heard of Nicklas Lidstrom?
