We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against
GMRwings1983 replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Abby had one more point than Nystrom in several more games. I'd take Nystrom's 16 goals and grit over anything Abby does. In any case, this 4th line needs a major makeover. Seeing Homer and Mursak out there with Emmerton made me want to puke. Worst 4th line I've ever seen. -

I just hope we don't sign any useless 4th liners than Eric Nystrom. Emmerton and Abdelkader are so much better than him. -
2012 SCF : Los Angeles Kings vs. New Jersey Devils

I heard Jimmy Hoffa is buried beneath center ice. Or was that Giants stadium? -
So will Lidstrom play hockey in Sweden now? Or is he retiring for good?

Jersey residents showing their intelligence. Snooky must be in the audience. -
That and the fact that he was injured late in the year and didn't look the same afterwards. It's like he wasn't immune to that stuff anymore and knew it.

Lidstrom is the second best defenseman ever behind Orr. No way you can honestly say Yzerman is a top 5 all time forward. Also, Lidstrom's longevity puts him above Yzerman. Stevie was a solid player in his late 30's, but injuries eventually took their toll. Lidstrom was an All-Star caliber player all the way to the end. I mean, the guy won all his Norris trophies after age 30! For that, Holland deserves......

I never got to see Yzerman in his late 80's early 90's days. Even if I did, I still have Lidstrom ranked above Yzerman all time.

I would sell my mother to the Arabs to see that happen. -
Like I said in another thread, he's the best player of my generation. I never got to watch Gretzky or Lemieux in their primes and it's doubtful whether I'll ever see anyone as good as Lidstrom.

Haven't been on LGW all day. Not surprised that he's retiring, but am surprised that he picked this day to do it, with the Cup Finals kicking off and all. In any case, it sucks that he's gone. He could have still played several years at a good level. It's a shame Holland did s*** to improve this team last season and that his final year ended in a first round playoff exit. He's the best hockey player I ever got to see in his prime and the best I ever will see.

I hope our roster isn't that soft in 5 years. Too much marshmallow and not enough jam in that lineup (whatever that means)

What's to stop Chris Chelios from coming back now?

I bet they say this stuff on every team's forum. That's what happens when you're angry and have a keyboard in front of you at the same time.
-
Actually, Florida was the toughest opponent Jersey ended up facing in the East. They were one OT goal away from losing that series.

Many people asked for Holland's head a month ago, when this team was sent fishing after 5 games. A Hasek signing would be a pretty extreme act.

#6 New Jersey Devils vs. #1 New York Rangers
GMRwings1983 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Yeah, the Rangers did struggle in the playoffs. I know records go out the window come playoff time, but 10-10 is very average, whereas in the regular season, they had one of the best records in the league. They barely eked out an 8 seed Ottawa team, then struggled against a 7 seed Washington, and now lost to a 6 seed Jersey team. I wonder what changes the Rangers make in the offseason? Get rid of Gaborik? Can they make a push for Suter? -

I think from a hockey standpoint, it will be a wide open and offensive series. Much more so than LA/NY would have been. But yes, the two biggest cities in the country playing in the Finals would have been awesome. In any sport really. Just doesn't happen too often. I think it'll get less coverage and attention because of that. Not to mention, the Rangers are an original 6 team, much like the last two Cup winners. -

The last several Cup winners ended a long drought to win the Cup. Can LA be next in line? I know they've never won, but it does technically count as a drought, much like Chicago and Boston. -

Honestly, he's better off in Jersey, with the young offensive talent they have. I don't know why he'd come here to play on the same line as a Bertuzzi or Hudler. -

I agree. Fatso and his team spoiled a dream final for the league. Ref should have blown the whistle there and said "intent to blow". -

Anyone pick the Devils to win the East before the season or the playoffs? -

Devils are cockblocking big time here. If this were the NBA, the league would make sure the Devils don't land in the Finals, for ratings purposes. Oh well. Hope LA wins, or else the Devils will have 4 Cups in the last two decades.
