Predators bench Radulov and A. Kostitsyn for Game 3 of WCSF
GMRwings1983 replied to edicius's topic in General
Nice example. Sidney Crosby. I'm just saying that booze and women on the road have been a part of sports culture for a long time. -
He should hang out with Radulov and Kostitsyn apparently.

Does anybody actually think NHL players stay in their hotel rooms and read the Bible every night on the road? -

I hope Parise and Parros will become household names after this show. -
Calle Jarnkrok - Does he have a chance to make next season's team?

It doesn't seem like we have any prospects who can be a Datsyuk or Zetterberg in the future. Look at a team like the Flyers, who are being carried now by young guys in their early 20's and late teens, who were guys they drafted and developed. Granted, some of those guys were higher picks, but the point is they have a great future. Guys like Smith and Nyquist (who seem to be our best prospects) are good young players, but I don't know about them being future star players or anything like that. -

I hope Kenny Lolland is watching this s*** and realizing how tough it is to score on Nashville and the great Pekker Rinne. -
Kind of like a certain player Nashville obtained at the deadline?

Seems like overtimes have ended a lot faster the last few years than I can ever remember. The marathon overtime games of the past are fading away. About 10 years ago especially, there were multiple OT games seemingly every night. I guess in one sense, this era of hockey brings more exciting back and forth OT's, hence the game ends faster. Ten years ago, there was more trapping and less chances, hence the games went on longer. Of course, there are still games from time to time that go multiple OT's (we already had one in these playoffs), but I'm noticing they're becoming more rare. Personally, I miss seeing longer overtime games, especially when other teams are playing. Just seeing the grind and tear that long games have on the players adds to the playoff excitement. Goals in such games are so backbreaking for the team that loses them. Now, the games end before I can even sit down to watch the OT.

#7 Washington Capitals vs. #2 Boston Bruins

If Detroit scored a goal like that, it would have been waved off for goalie interference. Knuble looked to make contact with Thomas. -

What's good about that? I'd rather see those teams still in the playoffs being a hockey fan. Would make it more interesting. Washington is still a good team for the league, but the Western Conference playoffs will be unwatchable in my book. -
Another short and faced paced overtime.

Imagine how scared he would act if he played for say the Wings. He just acts tough knowing he has so much backup on that roster. -
Franzen would make a great motivational speaker for sure.

C- Datsyuk A- Zetterberg A- Some Enforcer That's how I'd do it. C- Zetterberg A- Datsyuk A- Kronwall This is what will most likely happen.

Howard has never beaten any goalie not named Bryzgalov in a playoff series. Until then, he'll have his critics. I'd take Rinne because of his size and consistency. I think he's better than Quick in that respect.

Building a new Wings team (the realists thread)
GMRwings1983 replied to WingNut 25's topic in General
He's not really a top line player. I'd like to have a big body on the other lines that can score, but it's not going to make us a better team if he's playing on the top line. Certainly a big dropoff from a Parise or Perry. -

What's so special about this team over the one we have now? David Jones? Isn't he at the bottom of the ocean somewhere? -
For the future? Yzerman.
-
What did you think Trotz was going to say? "You suck and we just beat your team's ass?" I think every coach in the league respects Lidstrom. Same with every player probably.
-
Parise would be a good addition, but that lineup the OP posted would be lucky to get out of the second round. Sadly, I think that's the best lineup we can hope for next season.

We Need to Get Tougher to Play Against

I would have babies with any of the guys the OP listed. -
This would be a great line if Bertuzzi was transported to 2004 and Franzen transported to 2008. That aside, this line is a joke and so is Babcock for continuing to put them on the ice, instead of putting Datsyuk and Zetterberg together for the final games against Nashville. Don't know if he was just trying to prove a point or what.

Even the coach thinks they choked.

Technically, we weren't a favorite, let alone the top seed.
