Dallas isn't even that good and yet they're 3rd. So if we play them in the playoffs with a better record who will have home ice? Providing we don't win our division that is.
-
Lidstrom, Holland and Ilitch need to meet with Shanahan, and convince him a supension isn't the way to handle this.
-
More importantly, will a suspension deter Kronwall from going after monster hits again? We know he isn't exactly a guy that goes for the big hit on every shift. This could change the way he plays the game somewhat. He's not a Rinaldo or Clutterbuck type player that needs to hit in order to stay in the league.
-
Disappointed with this team's response after the Kronwall hit. Too timid and shy.
-
Well, another crappy effort with giving up several odd man rushes. Now Kronwall will likely miss a few games as well.
-
Don't worry, we'll draft a Hall of Fame sniper with our 7th round pick.
-
We do. Read my post above. Rinaldo and Hartnell aren't that tough, and I don't think Shelley is even dressed tonight. Quincey can fight too.
-
And once again, we have a tougher lineup out there tonight than Philly. Do Holland and Babcock neuter these guys before the game? We can handle this ******* team physically. They're not the '82 Flyers.

Waiting for Dan Cleary to rejoin the Red Wings any minute now.

What do you think needs to be done to fix the PP/PK

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Rafalski's absence is big. He made a lot of blunders defensively, but offensively, he had great vision, was a terrific passer with a good shot. White is a good 2nd pairing d-man, but he's no Rafalski, and isn't really a top pairing guy. He's having a solid season because he's playing with Lidstrom more than anything. The powerplay misses Rafalski. -
Which Opposing Teams Fans Invade Joe The Most?

Game 7 or not, there's no way Pens fans outnumber Toronto or Montreal fans on an average basis. -

Thanks for those videos. Red Wings killer my ass.

I'm guessing Toronto or Montreal. -
Crosby won't be there to save the nation. Hopefully, Russia and the US will be playing for the Gold this time.

I don't agree about taking nights off on purpose, but it is possible that having to defend such a long streak and all the media attention may have burned the team out a little bit. Of course, injuries contributed to these last few home losses. The team will never come out and admit whether the injuries already existed during the streak or not. If Lidstrom and Datsyuk come back soon, this team will be fine. I'm still not sold on a long playoff run. And no, there isn't a curse. That's taking it too far.

I didn't do it.

Was Kevin Weekes not an option?

Don't worry, the deadline is only a week away. In a way. -
I didn't remember that. I guess they did it based off the 2008 playoffs. Maybe Holland knew all along that Hossa planned on walking in the offseason. Didn't Hossa sign for a small contract with the Wings? Meaning he was a rental all along.

He's not a Wings killer. We played them in the playoffs once, and we beat them in 5 games, without Datsyuk and Lidstrom. He's not exactly a Drury or Deadmarsh, who hurt us in the playoffs each year. Also, I'm too lazy to look it up, but I doubt he has a much higher scoring average against us than he does against all the other teams. He's just put up good numbers against everybody the last few years, because he's surrounded by great players. Has nothing to do with Detroit. If there is some significant scoring difference against us, then I'll retract my statement and call him a "regular season Wings killer". Lastly, he got his ass kicked by Lilja and Kopecky.

It looks like the playoffs will make or break Franzen here on LGW. His only defenders point to his past playoff performances as an excuse for his uninspiring work ethic all year. If he doesn't put up big playoff numbers, he won't have any defenders on this board at all. And I know he leads the team in goals, but his goal total isn't all that impressive. It's not like he has around 40 goals, and no one is close to him. Our goal scoring tends to be balanced throughout the lineup.

Red Wings recall Doug Janik, Chris Conner and Jordan Pearce from GR

We might have the toughest team we've dressed in years. This might seriously hurt our playoff seeding (I still don't know if that matters or not), but we should be OK long term. I don't think Lidstrom or Ericsson are diagnosed as being out a long time. -
I think Hossa did himself in with his awful 2009 playoffs and especially the choke against the Pens in the Finals. At that time, Franzen looked like some budding star with several impressive playoffs in a row. In retrospect I would have kept Hossa, but the more I think about, the harder it is to disagree with the decision back then. I guess Holland couldn't see through Franzen's laziness in those days and predict the future.

Yeah, it's called "Robert Lang Syndrome" It's better to whine about the team than to whine about all the posters here. Why do you even come to this forum?
