If Crosby ever returns from brain surgery, he'll piss on that President's trophy like he did last time.

Justin Abdelkader: A fighter's courage, but no fighter's skill

What kind of player? A gritty fighter who can score as many points as Helm, Emmerton or Abby? Those players are easy to find all around the league. -
Depends on who the President is at the time. Honestly, it doesn't matter.

How could a s*** team going nowhere say that about a 3rd line guy? -

I never did hear what the "Moen" asking price was? And the city of Detroit is tired of watching their fighters get their asses kicked. That's not what the town stands for. -

It is pretty sad that he has to take it on the chin, because Holland doesn't dress anyone else who's willing to do it consistently. I hope he doesn't get a concussion from trying to "fire his team up" -
Our mediocre powerplay, the dropoff in goals from Zetterberg, Holmstrom being a 4th liner, and the absence of Rafalski have all resulted in worse offensive numbers for Lidstrom. Defensively, he has a better plus/minus than last year, but I don't know how much to read into that. Obviously, the voters didn't care last year.

That was the same day Colorado signed Kariya and Selanne. Holland had to make a move of some kind.

Joey Kocur Aaron Downey Darren McCarty Brendan Shanahan Wendel Clark Andreas Lilja Bob Rouse Ryan Barnes Brad Norton Jamie Tardif Darryl Bootland Doug Janik Kris Newbury Holy crap! We've had one of the toughest teams in hockey over the last fifteen years.
-
Huh? In 2010, the refs were entirely to blame, and last year was a total fluke. Everyone knows we actually beat San Jose in back to back years. That's what I've learned from posting on LGW at least.

Why can't Ilitch use his mob connections to bypass all this California law s***?

I was never in favor of letting Quincey go, but I wouldn't have given up a first round pick for him, knowing that pick would give me more options at the deadline. Also, he had injury problems last year, which are something to consider. And yes, Nashville's trade was totally stupid, but that's their problem. We have some good prospects but no one who should be labeled as "untouchable", except for maybe Smith, since we're lacking good defensive prospects as it is. If Holland is unwilling to trade prospects, and has traded his top pick already, it's no wonder we didn't make many deals.

I don't think Holland needed to go after any other D-man if he didn't re-sign Ericsson. We brought in White to replace Rafalski, and added Commodore. Kindl was of course the man promoted, and we had Smith in the minors. We could have let Ericsson walk and been just fine for the long run, with cap space to boot if we weren't. And here's one more for you. He overpayed for Quincey as well. Since when was a 3rd pairing defenseman worth a first round pick? So Holland shouldn't be hypocritical about not overpaying someone. He's done it over the last six months with Quincey and Ericsson. And if that's what the current market is, then it's not overpayment anymore, but the current trend. Heck, everyone seems to be overpaying. Except for Yzerman. He fleeced a good depth defensman from us for a 7th round pick.
-
But it necessitated 3.5 million in cap space, which could have been useful in itself. We could have used that extra cap space and then be more willing to overpay at the deadline. And throughout the season, we could have easily played Smith and Kindl on the bottom pairing, plus had guys like Commodore and now Quincey. So yeah, we didn't give up prospects or picks for Ericsson, but did give up hard cash. I figured someone with your "intelligence" could see that, instead of giving some wise ass answer. Don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but does anyone know what happened with Moen? What was the asking price for him?
-
How come Holland was willing to overpay for that oaf Ericsson, but wasn't willing to overpay for someone at the deadline?
-
Not awesome enough the last two years. I'll never forgive Holland for this. And here I was posting pictures of Iginla and Parros all over LGW for several months.

Not really. The only move they made that I liked was Kassian. And that's a long-term move. He's not going to make or break their team this season. Their roster for the playoffs was already set. -

So Vancouver got Kassian so they could matchup better with Boston. Apparently, the SCF is already set. -
I wish we kept Yzerman around and parted ways with Holland.

So much for all the big names we've heard in the last month. Nash, Perry, Selanne, Ryan, etc. -

Buffalo is stupid to get rid of Kassian. Their team is already small and soft, and he's a good power forward potentially. -

You mean we actually made moves? Oh, the one where we traded Commodore for s***. I'm sorry, I forgot. -

So the Ducks decided not to move anyone, because they think they can make the playoffs? -

I hope Holland isn't content with second round playoff exits, because the fans sure as hell aren't. -

I wish I tapped Holland's phone right about now. "Papa John's? Can you make a delivery?"
