There's no such thing as America's team in any sport. Some teams have more fans than others, but there's too many fanbases to proclaim a team as representing the whole country or something. Especially when it's a sport that Americans put behind the other sports.

Maybe. Atlanta has a decent size population and look how that turned out. Some places just aren't hockey markets and the league has to realize that. You can't grow flowers in a field of s***.

Expansion? The league needs relocation right now and not expansion. Move Phoenix to Quebec and the Florida Panthers to Saskatoon.

I think his contract is up at the end of the year. We wouldn't owe him much, but who says he'd re-sign at the end of the season? We could use another big body and a right handed shot, but he's old and slow. Unless Yzerman is in cahoots to help the Wings with a Draper-esque $1 trade, I say we pass. -

Except I doubt any NHL fan hates Ilitch. Steinbrenner, Cuban and Jerry Jones are larger than life personas who get lots of sports coverage and are more widely hated.

I agree with both sides of this argument. This streak is very impressive because of the things you've mentioned. But at the same time, winning 20 in a row in regulation is even more impressive to me.

I forgot how annoying Blues fans can be with unrealistic expectations. They've been silent for a few seasons, but now they're back. Honestly, it'd be bad for hockey to have a boring, defensive team with no stars going deep in the playoffs. Hopefully, they tank in the first round.
