I'm starting to think we've already traded him.

Dude, Franzen leads the league in GWG.
-
The fight seemed to help Edmonton, though.
-
Maybe Ozzie will make a comeback.
-
Trade Conklin for Iker Cassilas! May as well try something new.
-
Gagner is Tebowing us.
-
I heard that Ben Eager came out of his mother's anus instead of her ******.

If I ever get banned from this forum, I feel better knowing someone is around who will continue my legacy.

Hopefully.

Harry Potter takes a stupid penalty, and we don't capitalize on it.
-
At least Kenny won't be trading for Hemsky now. Thankfully.
-
Sidney Crosby has possessed Sam Gagner's body and found a way to get back on the ice!!!!!!!

Wonder what Don Cherry thinks about one of his "big tough Canadian boys" getting his ass kicked by a Euro? Maybe at hockey. In war and in combat sports, Russia is as tough as they come. Glad to see Kovalchuk remembering that.

Getting eliminated in the second round in consecutive years doesn't mean things are working. The Wings have higher expectations than that. If you're talking about our position in the standings, that doesn't matter come playoff time. We've seen that before. The President's Trophy is s***. I don't know about trading Zetterberg, but we do need to make some kind of move, not only because of our past playoff failures, but because our competitors will make moves themselves.

I wonder how many legendary players never scored 8 points in a game. Truly incredible.

Well, you need a balanced lineup. That checking line I listed is the best one we had. I was 10 when Probert last played for the Wings. My memory of him is strictly through watching his fight tapes and his days in Chicago. Same with Primeau, though he wouldn't make the list anyway from what I hear about his Detroit days. Hossa was great here (in the regular season). His choke in the playoffs omits him from the list. Vladdy was indeed better than Fetisov in Detroit, but I guess I picked Slava because of his all time ranking. I could go either way on that.

Like I've said before, there's nothing wrong with a tie. It just means neither team was good enough to win the game in an actual game format. Why give someone an extra point when they didn't earn it in a game situation?

I fear that if Columbus offered us Nash for Filppula straight up (which of course they wouldn't), many posters here on LGW wouldn't take it. Same with Iginla or Perry. Flip is having a great year, but you can't get a franchise player without trading a good player in return. Filppula or Franzen are the only ones who fit that definition. If you want a lot, you have to give up something good in return.

Shanahan - Yzerman - Fedorov Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Hull Holmstrom - Larionov - Franzen Maltby - Draper - McCarty Lidstrom - Chelios Kronwall - Rafalski Fetisov - Murphy Hasek Osgood

This is why Phaneuf probably doesn't care.

Contract Florida, Nashville and Columbus from the league Move Winnipeg to Quebec and move Phoenix back to Winnipeg. Somehow, it'd be more fitting. Ban goalies from getting into a butterfly stance. Get rid of the instigator. Bring back pure goons who can't play hockey. Give the original 6 teams an automatic playoff spot. Bring back the jerseys from the early 90's. Get rid of the new Reebok s*** and the stupid stripes. Have home teams wear white again. Each team will play a home and home against each team.

So who else thinks Red Kelly should have his number up there?
-
Isn't that word a little too strong? He has upside, but I doubt it's "tremendous", like he'll be some perennial All Star real soon.
-
#5 Lidstrom - pretty self-explanatory. Lifetime wing and the best player of his generation. Has done it all. #20 Downey - 2008 Stanley Cup. Enough said. #4 Red Kelly - at some point, this organization will get a clue and retire his number. Probably after Ilitch dies and new ownership takes over. Before Lidstrom, he was the best defenseman ever to play for this franchise. #6 Larry Aurie - same as above. His number may likely be restored one day where it belongs. #7 Norm Ullman - a great player who was one of the best centers of his era. Only, I think he wore the same number as Lindsay. Don't know how that would work. #91 Sergei Fedorov - this is one that will probably not happen, but I wish it would. I know it's been debated to death around here. But in 25 years, who knows. #13 and #40 - They may or may not get retired, depending on how much more they accomplish in their careers.
