Filppula, maybe Stuart (since he won't re-sign), Tatar, Nyquist, and picks. Not all those assets, but those are some of the ones we can throw around. Flip has more trade value than Hudler. I know Flip is having a great year, but if we can move him in a package that includes a sniper coming our way, Holland should seriously consider it. Although this is a pipe dream. I don't expect us to get Perry. The guy is one season away from winning the Hart. Is Anaheim really serious about moving him or Ryan? We'll see.

I want to add to what I wrote yesterday. When Abby was first called up, he hit everything that moved and was effective on every shift. He really wanted to make the team. Now that he has his roster spot, that same hunger and aggression isn't there anymore. He still hits people, but not to the same extent and frequency. I want to see more passion out of him again. Our leading fighter? LOL. That's not saying much. And he's our second leading hitter because we don't have too many hitters. My whole point is that we should look for a bigger, harder hitting 4th liner, who actually fights and can contribute what Abby contributes offensively. Such players are not that hard to find.

Franzen - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Hudler - Zetterberg - Perry Holmstrom - Helm - Cleary Miller - Abdelkader - Parros

Last year in the playoffs, he had 0 points in 11 playoff games, and took countless boneheaded penalties. At that point, I realized how useless he is. Along with Emmerton, he's the most expendable forward on this team. Hardly ever fights and doesn't play as aggressive as he did several years ago. If he doesn't return next season, I could care less. We need to find a bigger, harder hitting forward on our checking lines.

Holland sucks at twitter.

Every year, we complain about other teams getting unfair shootout points. I guess this season, we're the team getting the benefit of a point system I don't agree with. Next thing to be said is that shootouts won't help us in the playoffs. -

Yeah, Hudler hasn't looked too hot in shootouts lately, although Datsyuk has missed his last 3 shots as well. I'd put Franzen in Hudler's spot. Don't know why he doesn't take shootouts more often. He has a more dangerous variety of shots. -
Whatever. I actually picked us to win the Cup that year.

Any trade for a top 6 forward would likely involve Hudler or Filppula being moved. Fixed. I'll take it.

Was wondering if anyone has seen this? I've never heard of this happening in the NHL, but am surprised it hasn't, considering how heated some playoff series get. But this is unprofessional, and I'm glad both teams didn't wind up brawling because of the actions of one player. http://www.totalprosports.com/2012/01/16/fight-breaks-out-during-post-game-handshake-between-north-dakota-and-minnesota-video/

Just think, if that Lidstrom goal from center ice didn't go in, we could be talking about the biggest bunch of chokers in NHL history.
-
Oh yeah.

My favorite Cup run. I was going to start some threads about it later in the season when we're closer to the playoffs.

How does Stuart feel about Phoenix? It is close to California. Could be an option if Doan is dealt.
-
Sometimes, a change is needed to spark the team. The same lineup is getting stale come playoff time. We're not the Canadiens of the late 70's exactly.
-
Godfather Part II. "You broke my heart, Fredo". "You broke my heart". I hope Holland did that to Stuart after that game 7.
-
I am worried, though, that the Winter Classic is slowly going to lose its luster year by year.

Who was the last Wings player that happened to be a disruption in the locker room and a malcontent? I think people are being overly cautious on this. He's a young, right handed defenseman, who has played well in the past and can be a staple of a team's blueline. He does have some growing up to do, but Montreal would make a mistake by giving up on him so early.
-
Avery is abrasive. We won the Cup with him in 2002. Coincidence? I think not.
-
Not really. Other than Filppula and maybe Datsyuk, all the other skaters were better players 4 years ago than they are now.

I'm really glad Steve Ott didn't go in the shootout. -
He's Swedish, he hits like a truck, he clears the crease. What more do you want him to do?
-
For the right deal, I would take him.
-
So much so that he wants to play near his family.
