Because who wouldn't want Filpulla/Hudler and Ericsson on their team? Those guys are proven champions who played for the Red Wings.

Wonder why the NHL culture is that way compared to other sports. Is it because coaching is not as important in hockey as in other sports? It sure seems that way when teams re-hire coaches who they fired not too long ago. Maybe your goalie analogy makes sense. Also, isn't Dave Lewis an assistant coach there?

Didn't the Canes already fire Maurice like 10 years ago? Seriously, hockey is such a freaking weird sport when it comes to coaching. Teams rehiring coaches who they already fired. Or how about Larry Robinson being an assistant in Jersey. Didn't he coach them to a Cup in 2000? Why is he just an assistant now? This revolving door seems more common in the NHL than the other leagues.

Reminds me of Roenick a couple of years ago, when a slapshot broke his jaw and knocked him out cold. Very dangerous play and I guess Eaves will be out for a while now.

Foligno should have just dropped his gloves and pounced on Crosby. It'd be interesting to see if the Pens players would let Crosby fight, or would jump in there to save the day. He's had a few fights in his career, but I have a hard time seeing him doing it after this concussion business.

I've never been in their locker room, but honestly I can't imagine Zetterberg or Lidstrom giving that speech either. Heck, I've never personally heard Yzerman giving a big speech. It's one of those things that goes on in the locker room that we don't get to see.

I wouldn't mind if Pavel was given the captaincy. He seems to be bringing it every game, which is the mark of a captain and leader. I haven't seen that from Zetterberg this season. Too many off games. The fact that he speaks better English than Pavel is not as important as his play every night.

No, I actually like those jerseys is some sick, sadistic way. Honestly, both jerseys seem to have no rhyme or reason behind their color scheme. However, The Canuck jerseys are like a bad cult movie. Some people like them. I don't see how anyone can like these Islander 3rd jerseys.

There is no excuse whatsoever for those 3rd jerseys the Islanders are wearing tonight. Probably the worst jerseys I've ever seen in the NHL. No kidding.

Unfortunately, with San Jose, it seems to be mental as well as physical. They just have an edge over us. I remember how much trouble the Wings had against Anaheim as well, in 2007 and finally 2009, where we edged them in 7 games. I don't know if size is necessarily where Holland is looking for the trade deadline. I don't see us getting Weber like some hope.
