These are all problems which could have been addressed in the offseason. Our secondary scoring has been inconsistent the last few seasons, and we have aging forwards like Bertuzzi and Homer who were only headed downhill. Likewise, Cleary, Hudler and Franzen are known to be streaky players. Holland did nothing about it, really. We have a few younger forwards like Nyquist, Brunnstrom and Mursak, but it doesn't seem like they're going to be top 6 forwards anytime soon. This is basically the same forward group we had the last few years, only older. No reason to think we're magically going to be more consistent in our secondary scoring.

Twist and Kocur only fought a few times, both in the late 80's. Obviously, that was before Pronger and before Twist was on steroids. Shows you how big a ***** Pronger is, that he needed backup from Lapointe. There have been instances of fighters jumping non-fighters to prove a point or to retaliate for something. Of course if Gaustad did that, his teammates would have suffered, since Boston is a bigger and tougher team. A brawl against them wouldn't be a good idea for Buffalo.

Crosby may have more points than Datsyuk by the end of the season. I'd put him on a line with Franzen. He needs a sniper alongside him, and Zetterberg hasn't clicked with Datsyuk for a while now. Obviously, Cleary and Homer are not the answer.

Yeah, Homer and Cleary on the same line looks like s***. However, the team just isn't playing hard. Even the top line looks flat. The guys are going to have to actually try. Magical line combos aren't going to help them.
