Yes! Ask and you shall receive. Mike Brown is a piece of s***. Good job by Exelby of not pulling any punches when Brown was on the ice. He doesn't deserve any respect from the code. -

Hopefully we'll see some fireworks tonight with our goon lineup on the ice. -

Why does the NHLN only air Wings games when our 3rd tier players are in the lineup? -
He says that Bertuzzi isn't physical enough to be on a checking line, then he puts Hudler on.........you guessed it, a checking line.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the fight thread!

I want to see all the original 6 teams in the same Division, if possible.
-
A fight thread where we're arguing about punctuation. That has to be a first.

9/30 Exhibition GDT: Toronto Maple Leafs at Red Wings

Saw the highlights of the goals. That was ugly. Has Howard looked this way the whole preseason? I haven't watched enough of these exhibition games to know. -
Yes. Why does someone have to watch the UFC to watch athletes fighting? There's plenty of hockey fans who enjoy that part of the game and enjoy watching guys drop the mitts. It's been a part of the game a long time. I hate the whole "go watch the UFC" crap anti-fighting people always say. I want my hockey to be physical, which includes hitting and fighting. If people don't like that kind of hockey, they should go watch figure skating, instead of telling people like me to go watch the UFC.

I wonder if fans around the league feel like people on this forum do? I mean, the Wings never fight and are dead last in fighting majors every year. I can see how fans here are influenced by our team's mentality. If we had more fighters, there probably wouldn't be so many anti-fighting posters here. It's doubtful this talk about how fighting is useless and should be banned occurs as frequently on other hockey forums around the league. Just my opinion, though. No, the game would be better without guys like Jarkko Ruutu and Matt Cooke.

If I wanted to watch figure skating, I'd watch the Olympics. If I wanted to watch grown men cheapshot each other without any physical retaliation or standing up for one's teammates, I'd watch football.
-
I did. If he signed here, this most certainly wouldn't have happened.
-
People who complain about fighting should know that 20 or 30 years ago, there were much fewer guys who'd let up in that situation.
-
Call it the "Johan Franzen" rule.
-
Good point, but nothing new from Dryden. He's always been against fighting from what I can remember.

As long as the principal point of contact isn't the head.

Watch the Discussion thread.

We wouldn't have it easy in the East either. Teams like the Flyers and Bruins are poor matchup for the Wings, while Washington and Pittsburgh would certainly be tough opponents and long series. Montreal, New York and Buffalo would be much like Edmonton/Calgary/Anaheim were to us. Average teams with great goalies who can steal a playoff series from the logo-hunting Wings. Yes, the travel would be lighter, but the matchups would present their own issues.
-
Actually, you're not far off. Shanny has said something about re-evaluating the place of fighting in hockey, since that's part of his player safety job.
-
I don't think of Smith as a reckless player. There's other guys on our team that label can be applied to more. I already mentioned one above.
-
That was a day game. The one where Marchant scored in triple OT? But yes, in general the multiple OT games on the West coast can be brutal, although they haven't happened in recent years.
-
Way to back up your player Kenny. It was a little reckless, but the suspension was too harsh. Fair punishment my ass. Wait till this happens when Kronwall destroys someone by leaving his feet, then we'll see what Kenny says.
-
Like I said before, this is going to deter guys from hitting, period. Many of these suspensions have resulted from accidental split second plays. If guys avoid even going for a hit, they obviously won't be suspended. Good for player safety, but not good for the physicality of the game in general.

Homer and Hudler on the same line? Has Babcock lost his mind?
