Ryder's name should be taken off the Cup immediately. :!:
-
This is awful! Another player I always wanted to see on the Wings and he seemed like a nice, shy guy off the ice. This has not been a good summer for tough guys.
-
If I was a 6'5 Canadian thug who had no skills besides fighting while on skates. Or if I was a 5'8 Czech wimp who is soft, lazy, but has good hands which show up every 4 or 5 games.

So what is your favorite line in your time of watching the Wings? Here are some of mine: 1. Shanahan - Fedorov - Yzerman Awesome line with future Hall of Famers and 3 of my favorite Wings players. It worked a lot better in 2002 than it did in the 2003 playoffs, but it was comforting knowing we had a line with that kind of star power, which could scare the hell out of opposing fans. 2. Maltby - Draper - McCarty I had a hard time not putting the "Grind Line" number one. Kocur played on that line as well, but this version with McCarty is the one people remember best. I hope we see a line again which brings that kind of excitement to fans at the JLA. 3. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Hull Although Pavel and Hank became better players later in their career, this line with Hull was the most fun to watch. They had countless highlight reel goals and the passing was mesmerizing to watch. Hull was always an underrated passer. 4. Kozlov - Fedorov - Larionov The "Russian Five", as they were known together with Fetisov and Konstantinov, are as good a line as you'll ever see in terms of puck possession and skill. Fedorov and Kozlov were both in their primes in that time. They were eventually split up into other lines which won Cups, but it's hard to forget this particular group. I don't remember who played center on this line, so I could be wrong putting Fedorov there. 5. Ellis - Hussey - Langfeld Not s***ting you here. This line was so bad that they're actually good! They had solid chemistry from playing together in the AHL, but I remember seeing many shifts where they'd have a minute of puck possession cycling in the offensive zone, but were unable to get any shots on goal or even decent scoring chances. Maybe it's funnier in retrospect than it was at the time.

I'm disappointed that nobody has mentioned Hudler/Modano/Cleary yet.
-
Not to my memory, but I could be wrong.
-
I would have chosen this slogan.
-
Yeah, that makes more sense. Thanks.

For some reason, I actually thought of that line with Bertuzzi and Lang's lazy asses playing together. That line wasn't around long enough, though.
-
I'd be amiss not to mention that Zetterberg scored 6 goals in that series in 6 games. He showed right away that he was a playoff player. Also, Robert Lang was really good for us that series, just like in 2004, despite all the crap he gets for being lazy too often.
-
I just remember us heading into the 3rd up 2-0, and totally falling apart. I remember Legace choking that whole series. Also, Datsyuk and Shanahan didn't show up and playing Draper on that line with them was a terrible idea. Lastly, I remember Yzerman not being on the ice for the last shift, despite being one of our best forwards that series. Just a terrible memory from what was great, record breaking regular season.
-
Probably none. There doesn't seem to be much precedent for fining people for late punches (maybe my recent memory is off). It was a heat of the moment thing as well. As for Ericsson, he's shown that he can hold his own in fights against good fighters (like Clowe) but he doesn't fight consistently. He hardly ever throws a bodycheck or clears anyone from the crease. He's just a lighter, better looking version of Uwe Krupp.
-
I'll be more excited when we get another player that can do this.
-
Maybe Hudler can carry Datsyuk on the top line like he did last season.
-
No, but we didn't really pursue any other top 6 players this offseason. Hence, he'll still be on the top line some of the time.

Bleacher Report 50 Best Announcers/Personalities in Hockey History
GMRwings1983 replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Bleacherreport is fun to read, but they recently had an article where Chris Chelios and Mike Vernon were listed as two of the 5 greatest fighters in Wings history! Can't take that site for face value, really. Just for entertainment. -
They wouldn't dare compete with the NFL or college football on weekends. Or dare to show games on primetime TV during the weekdays. That pretty much rules out every day of the week.
-
Actually, that's the best hand speed I've seen since Craig Berube.

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nhl/feed/2011-02/isles-vs-pens Anyone else find this rather strange? I mean it was a fun game and all, but this is not the LNAH. I'm surprised to see an "NHL" team doing this. It's sad how far this franchise has fallen and has nothing else to celebrate. I wonder what the league will do about this? P.S. I wish I had the time and money to attend this event. Should be a fun night.

I think Helm should call out Hudler the same way.
-
Bradley is a terrible fighter, but he's probably right about Semin. It's one thing when the media questions him, but when your own teammates do it in public, that's really bad. I wonder if Semin will care about this?
-
I always wanted to see Bure in a Wings uniform. He's my favorite non-Wing ever. Would have been something with him, Fedorov and Larionov/Kozlov on the same line.

Islanders Hosting Party to Celebrate Fight Night
GMRwings1983 replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I don't look down on it. I enjoyed the game. I'm just surprised to see an NHL team doing this. I figured they'd want to distance themselves from anymore talk about a game that honestly meant nothing in the big picture. -
Islanders Hosting Party to Celebrate Fight Night

Where's the misinformation? The Isles are supporting and promoting the party as you stated. They should be trying to distance themselves from this instead. It's in the past and is not some Cup win they're promoting. -
That's terrible news. He was one of the best pound for pound fighters in recent memory. The Canucks recently had to deal with Luc Bourdon's death as well. Edit: Forgot he was no longer with the Canucks.
