Hopefully, game one is Friday at 9:30, and game two is Sunday at 5:00. In GMR's dreams.
-
If our PK plays like it did against Phoenix, the diving Sharks will kill us. I just hope the Wings bring it 5 on 5 like they did against the dogs.
-
Who would you rather see play the Sharks? Us or Chicago?
-
We got plenty of help with our 1st round opponent this year. It could have been Chicago if the final week went differently.
-
Buffalo choked in game 6 when they had a chance to finish it. They've made things harder for other teams by keeping the Flyers in the playoffs. And I'm tired of Ryan Miller losing another playoff series. That guy hasn't stolen one series since he's been in Buffalo, despite his moniker of being some hot goalie who carries their team. Not a proven playoff goalie.
-
I remember many years ago, the Flyers/Leafs had a game 6 which went 2 OT's, and a game 7 the following day. It's happened before, but is rare.
-
Well, in any case, the Sharks are getting more rest now, instead of having to play either us or Chicago off a 7 game series with limited rest.
-
Nashville for me, because I like more sleep. Also, I'd rather play a team with less firepower. You know, kind of like Phoenix.
-
Why does that series affect anything in the West? I know the NBA will often have a game 1 in one Conference on the same day the other Conference is having a game 7 in a previous round.
-
F*** the LA Kings. If those idiots won, we'd have at least one more day of rest, with game 7 being tomorrow. Also, San Jose would be a tired team if they advanced to the next round to play us. Now, I just hope Chicago can win, so that they and SJ kill each other. We'd get Nashville, a team with less talent and less travel for us.

No reason to be subtle around here, especially if you have something honest to say about a particular topic.
-
Surprised Visnovsky didn't make it, but Chara does have a lot of star power, despite not putting up great stats this year. I just hope they don't hold s***ty goaltending from Howard against Lidstrom, with his plus/minus being so low and all. Chara had Thomas and Weber had Rinne. Two Vezina trophy finalists which had amazing years. That influences plus/minus more than anything. And we know Lidstrom had a much better year points wise than Weber(who shoots 100 shots per game) and Chara.

No way. Hudler and Homer on the same line? Datsyuk would have to defend 3 players at the same time in his own zone. I just don't understand why people want to mix up line combos that worked so well. Minimal intrusion is what I was going for with my combos.
-
I welcome opposing teams' fans on this board.
-
Why is everyone afraid of the Preds goaltending? Rinne gave up a lot of goals in their series against Anaheim. He's overrated as s***. The only reason they won that series was because of Ray Emery.
-
Tough to say. Both Nashville and San Jose haven't had good goaltending in the playoffs. Nashville would be easier for travel and for my sleep schedule. I'll say Nashville. San Jose's powerplay scares me against our weak PK.
-
If Jonas Hiller was healthy, Anaheim would have won this series. The overrated Pekka Rinne was tagged for a ton of goals in this series, yet his team still won. Why did they win despite having s***ty goaltending and not many talented forwards...............? Oh, that's right. Ray f**king Emery sucks.
-
Then you make Hudler and at least another winger meaningless, because someone needs to center the 3rd line. This way, the lines are better balanced. Besides, that's a damn good top line the way they're playing. Same thing with the 2nd line.
-
Right. The other two aren't. You seem to know the definition better than you let on.
-
Franzen - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Cleary - Zetterberg - Bertuzzi Hudler - Filppula - Abdelkader Draper - Helm - Eaves Not much different than the lines used against Phoenix.

Which team had the LEAST losses on route to winning the cup?
GMRwings1983 replied to crodley's topic in General
The 2006 Hurricanes played 25 games to win the Cup. That means 9 losses. I can't think of any team that played more games to win it all. Calgary played 26 games in 2004, but lost in the Finals. -
Hard to define. Better done with examples. You name one, and I'll tell you whether they're a true enforcer.

Positive Signs for The Wings in These Playoffs
GMRwings1983 replied to Mabuhay Red Wings's topic in General
You mentioned choking, yet you pick the Bruins to make the Finals. They're the biggest chokers on the list. -

GMRwings1983 replied to crodley's topic in General
Yeah, those Oiler teams coasted over the competition like no one else in the modern era. I have a hard time seeing anyone having only 2 losses now, especially with home ice being so meaningless and teams being so competitive. -
It used to happen all the time in the 80's and 90's. Less common now, but many of the enforcers listed are guys who played a full season with their team. Not a surprise that they'd play the playoffs too.
