It's hard to be against it when he's by far tougher than anyone on our team. I know he's kind of a joke amongst NHL fight fans on other sites, but for the Wings he'd be a beast of sorts. Pretty sad I guess. I would trade all but a few guys on our team for Boogaard.

Tina is not a great fighter, but he's better than anyone we have in that department. As others have mentioned, he can score here and there. Also, with his big frame he's a good forechecker who can punish smaller defenders. We don't have anyone who can do that either (unless Bert turns back the clock).

The people in favor of the instigator rule are either non-fighters, or pests who are afraid of being beaten the hell up. Makes sense. Surprised about Crosby being a great role model and everyone wanting to play for Dan Bylsma. Also, I think it's interesting how Washington and Boudreau have this soft and easy reputation around the league.

It was better last year, where it was more sped up. This time it was like a real shootout, with ample time for replays after every freaking shot. Just took too long. If they'll do it again, they need to make it faster next time.

I was wondering if the Red Wings have their own skills contest before or during the season, similar to the ASG format? If they did, then I'd be curious to know who won what. If they don't, I see a skills contest going something like this: Fastest Skater: Darren Helm. Draper is not as fast as he once was and Lebda is no longer here. Helm wins hands down with Draper coming second. Hardest Shooter: Jonathan Ericsson. I don't think we have any really hard shooters, but it's either him, Stuart or Franzen. I pick Ericsson. Breakaway Challenges: Pavel Datsyuk. No one can do what he can do with the puck. That may go for the whole league. Accuracy Shooting: Johan Franzen. Can pick corners better than anyone on our team. A few years ago I'd pick Zetterberg, but he's no longer the top sniper on the team. The other guys would just hit the boards and glass, most notably Filppula.

What is the over/under on Filppula hitting 70 mph in a hardest shot contest?

Probably Ericcson. Bert is strong enough to wrestle someone to the ice, but that's about it. Abby can't fight for s***, so he wouldn't win it.

Mursak is pretty fast, but I don't think he's faster then Helm. Too bad Helm is unlikely to ever be an All-Star, because I was thinking today how cool it would be to see him in the fastest skater contest. Don't know if he could beat Mike Gartner's record, but it would still be fun to see him compete.

Actually, this last skills event was interesting. Passing into that small net is a good idea, because we always see perfect saucer passes in the game, but never in a skills contest. Same thing with shooting pucks from bad angles. However, the intermission they had stalled things greatly. No reason to have an intermission. These guys aren't tired from doing this. Also, they should have a hardest punch contest just for enforcers. Like Ivan Drago.

Don't like either matchup. Both of those teams are a lot more physical than us. And before some idiot brings up the '97 Finals, this Wings team isn't nearly as physical on paper as that Wings team which matched up to the Flyers.

Wow, Lidstrom sucks at choosing teams. Guess he won't be following in Yzerman's footsteps. I don't think the breakaway challenge should last another year. I know they say scoring doesn't matter, but it really does. Hardly any of those moves wound up in the back of the net. It'd be like an NBA dunk contest where no one actually achieves a dunk. And Ovechkin winning was just a popularity contest.

I've said that before about Jackass. He's no better player now than he was his rookie year. The guy has evolved into nothing.

I never played NHL '94. Just wasn't into sports games back then. I heard you can play it online, so I'll see if I can find that. My favorite NHL game would be NHL 2000, just because I loved the rotating camera that would zoom in on the action. I hate the static 2-dimensional camera that just goes up and down. It's still that way with hockey games today.
