Interesting. But that was a long time ago, when teams often didn't have backups in the lineup. Goalies were tougher in those days, so there wasn't much need for a backup in the first place. But still, the idea of two goalies getting injured on the same team the same night doesn't seem all that strange, yet it rarely ever happens in the NHL. -

Why not Ericsson? He's made saves for us before. I've also wondered about this kind of thing, and don't ever remember seeing it in the NHL. If anyone has a better memory than me of recent history, I'd sure like to know when a non-goaltender last played as goalie in the NHL? -

The Penguins logo in that picture makes it look like the penguin was strangled. Just for the record, I'm old school, and think every team should revert back to the jerseys they wore in the early 90's. And get rid of the ugly stripes that seemingly every team has unnecessarily included in recent seasons. -
Most of those guys were old and past their primes. Also, it seems like a million years ago when those guys were Leafs. Point is, none of them were younger players that the Leafs developed and were able to keep. Kaberle is overrated, so I wouldn't exactly consider him a great accomplishment for the Leafs. Wasn't he criticized heavily in Toronto for his play?

I wish we played them in the Finals that year. Would have been interesting to see how our vets would handle the goonery from the Leafs.

Gutsy win tonight. We needed those 2 points. Still worried about the defense and goaltending. Giving up 5 goals is never good, especially against a team that isn't known for its offensive prowess. -
Leafs fans liked him? I wouldn't think so, but I guess you know more about that fanbase. I just remember all the love Aki Berg and Bryan McCabe got from Leafs fans. Those were the days.

They did the same thing with Jeff Finger. I honestly can't remember the last time they had a great player besides Sundin. Maybe Belfour and Mogilny, although both were well past their primes in Toronto. It's a legendary franchise that seemingly no top NHL star wants to go to.

When was the last time Leafs fans actually liked any defenseman? This is not on Lebda. It's on that whole franchise and it's inability to sign/draft/trade for good players.

At this point, Stamkos and Crosby are both better pure goal scorers than him. That was supposed to be something Crosby would never have over Ovechkin, yet it has happened in the last few years. That whole team has slipped a little, but for a guy that plays with so much passion and takes so many shots, it's really surprising that he's had so few goals.

We're going to acquire many players at the deadline, as Holland is likely to say. Datsyuk, Cleary, Ozzie, Stuart, Modano, and now Homer.

He doesn't shoot anyway and his stickhandling sucks. Should just play with the broken hand and screen goalies.

Thanks for that. So it definitely matters in terms of what the voters look at. It's not the only thing they look at, but if Nick had a higher plus/minus, say a +10, no one would be currently advocating anyone else winning the Norris over him at the halfway point. He needs to bring that up to ensure his 7th Norris win.
