If Hitler played for the Pens, he'd have been voted in as well. The fan voting is a joke, and always seems to rotate from team to team. Many years ago, Sharks fans stacked the ballot. Then it was the Canucks one year. Then Montreal a few years back, and now Pittsburgh. Seems like every year some team's fans stack the ballots, but it's never the same team every year. Conspiracy anyone?

Last several finals have been really exciting. Hope it'll be the same way this year.

Losing to Canada in anything (including hockey) is just embarrassing for America.

40 years ago today marked the dawn of the 'Dead Wings'

No matter how much the players hate a coach, there's no excuse for them not showing up to play. It's not about playing for the coach, but about playing with pride and earning your paycheck. Those Wings players dropped the ball on that one, even though Harkness sounds like an incompetent coach. -
Remember the Kings game last year? It's never a good idea to sit back. No lead is safe.
-
Can't believe the Flyers sat back the entire period. What a bunch of dumb asses.
-
He'll probably get voted in, though.
-
I think Draperfan is kidding, unlike the other 2.
-
As usual, Mindfly was right about this game.
-
Pens dropped the ball with the jerseys they wore. Should have wore the yellow and gold they wore in the early 90's. Awesome to see the Caps bring back their jerseys, however. I'd like to see them wearing it more often.

I'd love to see Crosby and Ovechkin drop the gloves in this game.
-
I'm sure Bettman will be interviewed during the game, and he'll talk about how popular hockey is in America and how everyone will be watching the game.
-
I want to see Crosby playing in dangerous conditions.
-
This is all Gary Bettman's fault. If the league had a better commissioner, this wouldn't have happened. NFL final week of the season. Nobody will watch hockey when playoff spots are on the line.
-
Leino and Hudler will have a ***** fight in that game. And Franzen will not let us get bullied by the big bad Flyers.
-
Lidstrom missed his one timer, while the Islanders player didn't miss his. I guess we would have lost in the shootout anyway, so killing the penalty probably wouldn't have helped.
-
In that case we're doomed.

Everyone knows that I've not afraid to be critical of Holland, but I have to compliment him on acquiring Eaves last year. I wasn't in favor of the signing, especially since Eaves was a player that seemed to be going backwards in his career and had been passed around several teams. He just didn't look special at any area of the game. However, he has turned out to be a great signing and is a guy that we can plug into several situations out there. He's starting to remind me of Dan Cleary, namely being a journeyman who we helped resurrect. I don't know if he'll continue improving his offensive skills like Cleary has, but he's got a good shot and isn't afraid of going to the net. I wouldn't be against him getting more time with the top forwards, especially in situations like this with injuries. Maybe even some time on the PP. So can this guy be a 20+ goal scorer for us in the future? He's on pace for that right now. Oh, and I couldn't resist the title of the thread, being a film buff and all.

They figured it was against the Islanders, so what the hell.

The average American doesn't know squat about hockey and assumes it is more violent than what it really is. I think the non-hockey fan assumes the NHL is like the film Slapshot, where violence and brawls break out every game. They'd be surprised to know that those things rarely happen like they used to in the olden days.

Zetterberg - great playoff performer. Often disappears for stretches in the regular season. Datsyuk - Best two way forward in hockey. Still needs to shoot more. Lidstrom - Best defenseman in the game today. Has a worse plus/minus than Dustin Byfuglien. Cleary - Does it all for this team on both sides of the ice. Got beat up by Chris Pronger. Franzen - Awesome sniper who's clutch in big moments. Is one of the biggest ******* in the league. Bertuzzi - Looks like he's big and mean. No longer plays big or mean. Rafalski - Great puck moving defenseman. Often moves the puck to the wrong team. Filppula - Nice hair and isn't bad looking. Overrated by 95% of LGW. Kronwall - Good skater and puck handler. Doesn't lay big hits anymore. Also looks slightly effeminate. Holmstrom - No one screens the goalie better. Is totally useless when not screening the goalie. Eaves - Gave GMR a hard-on with his play in the last game. Unlikely to get more icetime from Babcock. Stuart - Great hitter. Afraid to fight despite being 6'2 and from Western Canada. Hudler - Has a way with the ladies. Has played so poorly that even Crymson hates him. Helm - Very fast and hard working. Makes Draper's hands look like Mario Lemieux's. Ericsson - Has improved his play and is a willing fighter. Needs to add about 20 pounds. Abdelkader - Loves to hit and can drop the gloves. Sucks at fighting. Modano - Had a 96 overall in my NHL 2000 game. Would be lucky to be rated 80 in this year's game. Salei - Has played somewhat decent this season. Takes a penalty in every game. Miller - Looks cool with grey hair despite being around 30. Has been totally invisible this season. Draper - Has been a Wing since I was in elementary school. Is the unofficial mascot for the team. Osgood - Has put together a really good career. Has a bigger 5-hole than Jenna Jameson. Howard - Solid young goalie and the future in net. Is not as good as Carey Price.
-
He scored 20 goals one year in Ottawa, in only 58 games. So he's a guy that can put the puck in the net. He'll never be a perennial 30 or 40 goal scorer, but he can certainly be the next Cleary, since I wouldn't exactly call Cleary an elite goal scorer.
-
He's getting beaten a lot to the net. Just doesn't seem to be paying attention to detail very well. I still say go back to the old pairings, even though the last few games have been wins.
-
He's got a better shot than your boy Lang.

Was this game on the NHL Network? Also, how about all these one timer goals we seem to be having lately? Offense seems to be on fire with those shots.
