I'm guessing the whole point of this thread is to blow Holland and to make fun of the posters who wanted Quincey to stay. However, Holland didn't exactly hit a home run by keeping someone like Lebda and Meech, who haven't amounted to anything themselves. And the jury is still out on Ericsson. Point is, Holland makes mistakes too, even if you think Quincey is some overrated bust who we were better off letting go.

I guess he is having a terrible season, but I still wish we kept him over Meech and Lebda.

That's a pretty tight conference. Lose a few games in a row, and you wind up in the middle of the pack somewhere in a week. Gotta keep winning.

Maybe playing with Abby and Cleary will cure Hudler's laziness. I mean, he'll see two North American boys actually working hard for pucks in the corner and going to the net, so he'll feel guilty if he doesn't do the same. We can only hope.

Depends on what your definition of solid play is. I just wanted a few grinders on the team instead of skilled players who would be put in situations they're not comfortable with, such as playing on the 3rd line. Granted, Modano and Hudler have gotten more than enough playing time imo, but they just don't look like good fits right now with the Wings. A solid 4th liner would have been a good fit and would have allowed someone like Helm or Abby to play on the 3rd line with Cleary and get more playing time, which both those guys deserve.

I was thinking of Hudler's contract more or less. In Modano's case, his signing prevented us from needing to go after any more forwards. So even if he didn't give the team a big cap hit, he hasn't really helped us address any needs so far either. The 3rd line scoring only increased when Abby was added to the lineup and the lines were juggled a bit.

But we couldn't sign Asham or Neil, because we spent too much money on Hudler. These both look like failed signings right now. Maybe something will change around playoff time, but I still feel that our money would have been better served elsewhere.

We should trade him for a depth defenseman that can play physical in front of the net. Hopefully, his overpaid salary won't hinder that.

It's sad watching the games on TV and seeing how quiet it is compared to other arenas in the NHL. The fans only seem to make noise when the Wings score a goal. No crowd atmosphere at all during the game.

Awesome win in a wild game. Last year we couldn't make these comebacks because of injuries. This year we have the firepower to overcome any deficit. Defense has to be better, though. We've given up too many goals the last few games. Howard hasn't looked too good, either. Might be time to play the backup for a few.
