Madonna isn't in his prime anymore. He's never been a shut down center, which is what 3rd line centers are predominantly used for. It's not something he'll likely feel comfortable doing. And anything you say about Hudler is overly biased and wildly unrealistic. He's nothing more than a skilled player that occasionaly plays well when he has the right linemates. He's too streaky and not consistent enough to be relied upon game to game.

What else does Hudler do besides score? Unlike some of the over exuberant posters around here, commons sense told me that Madonna and Hudler are not good 3rd line players. They're not used to being in that role and are both subpar defensively. Also, they're pass first guys, and there's no pure goal scorer on that line for them to pass it to. Not to mention, both players aren't willing enough to play along the boards. It's early, but I'm sticking to my preseason prediction that the whole line isn't likely to work well.

Oh, I know. I was responding to the post directly above mine, which talked about most posters here not being real fans. I hate it when people say that. Reminds me of something a certain poster (who shall remain nameless) would say.

All the really successful sports teams have the most neurotic fans. Fans have the right to think what they want. They don't "owe" the team anything really. The team provides fans with entertainment, while fans provide teams and owners with actual revenue, which goes into player salaries. LGW is actually more fun with neurotic threads. Go to a Panthers or Thrashers board, and see how many people give a damn there. Not many, hence not as interesting a discussion board.

Have you watched any games this season? His defensive play has been anything but good. He's already turned over more pucks this year than he usually does over any 4 month period. The pairing with Stuart has been a disaster in every game. He's not doing much on the powerplay either, although a lot of that has to do with Rafalski's absence. I think his play will improve eventually, but I don't see him coming back another year. I think he has a lot more hockey left in him (look at Chelios), but he's too proud to play the game at a level lower than great.

He should dump Emma for a less attractive woman. It's settled.

I'm still upset that no one went after Fistric last night. Even more so than losing the game. If your friend gets hit with a cheap shot, wouldn't you step in there and retaliate against the SOB that did it? Every other team does that, but we don't. No one seemed to care whatsoever, which doesn't show much solidarity. Now I know the anti-enforcer slappies will point out how Franzen's injury wouldn't have been prevented by retaliation, but still it sucks that this team is so unwilling to stick up for one another in a situation like that.

They're suffering from ennui.

I remember Lindros getting a concussion once, even though he didn't take a blow to the head. Guys with a history of concussions are incredibly prone to getting them again, even for plays where it doesn't look like his brain got scrambled. On the bright side, I'm fully confident that Hudler can step into Franzen's role, and make us all forget about his absence.

Sounds like the analysts on NHL Network think Franzen will be out for some time. Any official word? Since it's Franzen, it's hard to expect any good news. He and Greg Oden must party together in the offseason.

Are you saying you don't care about us having an injury per game so far this season? But I thought you were a real fan, Crymson?

We already have 4 regulars injured after 4 games played. This game is a joke, but the injuries is what we should worry about in the long run. This is starting to look like a repeat of last season.

Teams have been doing that for 60 years. It can bring the team together and wake them from their slumber. At least send Dallas some kind of message. You surprise me sometimes, Crymson.
