It's not uncommon to start scrums when down 4-0. The Wings are probably one of the few teams that doesn't do it, because we don't have the personnel. In the Ducks defense, who could they start scrums with? We only have a handful of guys on our team that have ever "willingly" dropped the gloves. Bertuzzi didn't want to fight yesterday, and Abby and Ericsson weren't playing. It's only natural that the Ducks took their frustrations out on a non-fighter, because that's what our whole lineup was.
-
I knew that at some point in the game, one of our stars was going to fight. Remember how Datsyuk almost went at it with Brookbank earlier in the game. Zetterberg got into some scrums as well.
-
I don't remember writing anything like that. And there is no more WWF.
-
Did you read his post? He's saying things would have calmed down after an enforcer fight. Hence Perry wouldn't have done anything by that point. When May and Downey were in our lineup, not much happened in terms of these scrums, whether they were on the ice or not. I doubt it's a coincidence. I'm pretty sure I never said anything so stupid as Downey being tagged in by Datsyuk. That's your invention to bolster your argument.
-
Don't be a homer now. He didn't exactly kick Perry's ass.
-
Another straw man argument. I never said anything so stupid. You just invented that yourself.
-
I'm predicting a Pavel vs. Kane fight tomorrow night. Because teams don't generally want their star players getting hurt. Last year Ovechkin was close to dropping the gloves, and Bradley jumped in there and took a beating for him.
-
I hope you're joking about Perry being an enforcer. I'm surprised Getzlaf didn't fight anyone. He acted tough all night, but nothing came out of it. BTW, this ends any hope of another Lady Byng trophy.
-
I don't remember the Ducks gooning us up like this when Downey or May were in the lineup. Usually, tough guys will fight, and things calm down after that. When one team doesn't dress any tough guys and they play a team like the Ducks, naturally the non-fighters are going to get picked on.

Hudler played in the KHL last year, which has quite a few former NHL enforcers in it. He might surprise us with a fight or two this year. Too bad Ericsson went out of this game. He was the only real fighter we'd have, except for Bertuzzi, who was sadly invisible when the going got rough.
-
Seems like Perry fights a Wing every time we play that retard. Drake Rafalski Ericsson Datsyuk
-
Yeah, and that was pretty bad for Perry. He's already a known spotpicker, but he didn't come off too well in this fight. You'd think that he'd be able to beat Datsyuk rather convincingly. A total loser.
-
Well, Datsyuk's fight didn't exactly win the game. I'm just saying that I'd rather see tough guys fighting tough guys, than see our star player in a fight. Doesn't have to be against someone like Boogaard for him to get hurt. That's what happens when no hired gun is in the lineup to take care of the dirty work. Now we have Datsyuk doing it instead. This won't happen against most teams in the league, but against someone like Anaheim, it becomes a problem.
-
I just don't want our star player getting hurt in a fight. Isn't that important? If you understood hockey better, then you'd know why those staged fights occur.
-
So with Datsyuk fighting his arch nemesis, that means Hank and Crosby are going at it later this year. In all seriousness, he fought well, but we can't have him fighting out there. I'd rather see a Downey/Parros scrap like we saw several years ago. That's why you pay certain players to do the fighting.
-
Looks like Anaheim got away with gooning it up. Our PP wasn't a good enforcer for us tonight.
-
We need to get one here on the PP.
-
That's one we'd win. Hiller is a soft euro. I think Babcock should go over there and beat up Carlysle for ordering his team to goon it up.
-
I'm pretty sure Stuart didn't want to drop his gloves. That's not his game and it showed there.
-
Stuart needs to do this more often to live up to his West Canadian roots. I'm actually glad they're gooning it up, as long as no one gets hurt. Maybe it'll send Holland a message the next time we play this team.
-
Cleary needs to run Hitler right now. Wow, it's game 1 and I'm wound up tonight. This is the perfect opponent for that.
-
We definitely need an enforcer whenever we play the Ducks. If they're going to fight Datsyuk and send Parros out to fight people, we can't have that. We don't need our star players getting hurt. That could have gone worse than what we did.
-
Perry proves again why he's one of the biggest spotpickers in hockey.
-
Bertuzzi better ******* fight Getzlaf here.
-
He didn't win the fight, but he hanged in there and didn't embarrass himself like he did against Niedermayer. He has a chance for a Gordie Howe hat trick tonight.
