I thought it was Lebeech?

In 2006, Lidstrom was paired with Lilja in the playoffs. That didn't go too well from what I remember.
-
That game 7 WAS for the Stanley Cup. The Wings and Avs were by far the best teams in the league, and everyone knew Carolina wouldn't have a chance against either team. All the money was riding on that game.
-
Would anybody really mind if he was picked up by another team?

He're what Jeff Finger posted on his twitter account a few years ago. Can't believe no one besides me noticed it. "LOL! I can't believe those morons are gonna pay me $3.5 million per year"

By far the most nerve wrecking series I've ever watched. We had to win that series to save our respect, after losing to them in 1999 and 2000. Didn't look good after Floppa scored in OT in game 5, but that wound up being the last goal Colorado scored. Game 7 was maybe my favorite game ever to watch as a fan.

Dude, there have been so many advances in hockey defensively over the years, that Orr wouldn't know how to function in today's NHL. Hence, you have Brett Lebda.
-
Whatever he's doing, I hope I'm not around when he's doing it. That right hand hurt more people than any other fighter in hockey history.
-
If only Kronwall didn't hit that crossbar...
-
Well, it's the worst loss any of us have seen the Wings take. You dream of playing at home with a chance to win the Cup. We had that and still lost. The fact that it was to the Pens only makes things worse.

I turned the TV off as soon as the buzzer sounded. I honestly thought Lidstrom was going to score there at the end when I saw half the net open. When he didn't, I just turned off the monitor and buried my head in my hands on the table. I did eventually turn it back on for the handshake line, but turned it off immediately thereafter. So I never saw the celebration or any of that s***. Too embarrassed to watch them skate the Cup on our ice. Honestly, I wouldn't have missed the game for my own wedding, let alone someone else's.

This is my list. Also, we're only talking about their NHL careers, and not taking international play into account. 1. Nicklas Lidstrom 2. Peter Forsberg 3. Mats Sundin 4. Borje Salming 5. Kent Nilsson 6. Daniel Alfredsson 7. Markus Naslund 8. Henrik Zetterberg 9. Mats Naslund 10. Hakan Loob

Tonight, the NHL Network is supposed to show all 3 games of the 1996 World Cup of Hockey final between US and Canada. For my money, it's the best hockey I've ever seen in my life. Both teams were loaded with Hall of Famers, and unlike the Olympics, there was tons of physicality in the series, since these were North American teams. Just to give you an idea, Canada had the likes of Gretzky, Messier, Yzerman, Sakic, Lindros, Stevens, Brodeur, Niedermayer, Coffey and Shanahan. United States had the likes of Chelios, LaFontaine, Hull, Modano, Leetch, Hatcher, Richter, Tkachuk, Leclair, Housley and Amonte. Basically, I don't think there's ever been a series, aside from maybe the 1972 Summit Series, that featured a more impressive array of Hall of Famers and legends, and it was something to watch all these guys on the ice at the same time. It's sadly not talked about as often as it should. So what are you memories of this series?

Yzerman playing together with Lemieux. That was only a few months after Lemieux rearranged Draper's face. Must have been a strange situation there.
-
Watching it now, I almost forgot what a MONSTER Lindros was in his prime. The guy was out there every shift trying to punish people, and had tremendous skill on top of that. Truly scary player.
-
When did Zetterberg willingly fight? Malkin initiated the whole fight, and Hank didn't look like he even knew what was going on. Just like Datsyuk with Niedermayer.
-
Being a great two way center wasn't all that important in the 80's. Hence Yzerman and Lemieux weren't considered defensive shut down centers in the 80's. Lemieux did score a bunch of shorthanded goals, though, so I wouldn't call him terrible defensively. Yzerman's game changed with Bowman's influence and the fact that Stevie was no longer counted on to carry the team offensively. Lemieux never had to do that, because he was always counted on to lead the team statistically. Bottom line is that Datsyuk is better defensively than Gretzky. What does that prove about who was the better player?
-
Lemieux is one of the 3 or 4 best hockey players of all time. Yzerman was great, but isn't a top 5 all time player. As far as playing for Canada, Mario did that in 1987 and 2002 memorably. He was injured a lot and had cancer, which is one of the reasons he didn't play for Canada more often. Yzerman will probably get that honor as well, but I'm not surprised that Mario got it before him, and am certainly not going to gripe about it.

This is all Andreas Lilja's doing.
-
Why do they need another center, when they have the best top three centermen in the NHL?
-
Malkin is totally going to hit up on Hillary Duff.

I don't understand these Russian players at all. Most of them have children that were born and raised in the U.S., speak English, have American friends, are used to American culture, and attend American schools. Why are these players so willing to move their kids from that kind of situation to a whole new country, when many of them could play here in the NHL? It's one thing for athletes to move their family from city to city, but a whole new country is a pretty drastic change for kids who have gotten used to being where they are. Makes no sense to me.

How do you know that's why Aurie was un-retired? I thought it was a mystery of sorts.
-
First time I've ever seen you make a joke.

Yeah, I don't know what that guy is getting all excited about. Like I said, Franzen is not a traditional power forward, but a new variation of the term.
