Wow, that was the first time I've ever seen Hudler drop the gloves.

Wedding crasher? What connection do him and Zetterberg have? Nevermind. Wrong wedding.

Well, the Bruins did find a hell of a replacement for Orr, when they drafted Ray Bourque several years later. About as good a replacement as you can get.

Remembering Derian Hatcher's tenure with Detroit

I agree. It's not an accident that he was named captain on a team full of veteran players who were much older than him. Carbonneau, Skrudland, Hull, Modano, Zubov, Keane, Nieuwendyk. These guys could have all been captains and many of them had captained teams before. Hatcher was a quiet guy, but a feared player and great stay at home defenseman. His teammates seemed to love having him as captain. Zubov was a liability in his own end, so I don't know why eva would say Hatcher rode his coattails. Once again, it's not all about stats, even though eva would like to make it so. -
That's it. The Stanley Cup is theirs. Durno is the final piece. Wings and Lightning in the Finals.

Do you honestly believe Kariya is good for the Wings, or are you just some Blues fan who wants to see us sign a washed up player who's always hurt and eats up cap space, just so you can laugh about it afterwards?
-
I wonder if this thread could hit 100 pages before he makes his mind up?

Brashear wasn't a very good fighter yet at that time, and McCarthy was probably the best fighter in the league along with Twist and Simon. It was a pretty good scrap up to that point, so I'm guessing Brashear was too gassed to continue fighting, because he wasn't really getting destroyed or anything.
-
I agree completely People may as well say, "Kariya has softer hands than Draper" He's not the droid that we're looking for.

It's not a coincidence that Lilja has the hottest wife of any of those people in the pic.

Remembering Derian Hatcher's tenure with Detroit

He was unlike any player we had since Konstantinov, only much bigger. Unfortunately, it never panned out because of the injury. In retrospect, we got lucky in the long run, because after the lockout he started sucking because of the speed of the game. Maybe it wasn't a bad thing for us that he got hurt. -
I wasn't getting angry. Besides, it's too hot outside to chill. I'm just making what I think is a good point. Just like Modano, he's not a star player anymore and doesn't really address our needs. People are overreacting over this idea because Kariya was once a top star.

Probably the "new NHL".
-
Too many people on LGW don't understand the concept of having a complete team. Probably because in their video games, they stack all 4 lines with stars, and win the Cup every year. Doesn't work that way in the NHL. Kariya has never played on the lower two lines and that's totally not his game. Also, he's not good enough to be on our top 6 unless there's injuries. When we're healthy, he'll look out of place playing with Abby or Eaves.
-
He's injured too often and I've had it with him diving all over the ice like a pansy. He's not much better than Crosby and Floppa in that department. Same thing as the Modano situation. What does he give us that we don't already have? Can you envision Paul Kariya (a guy that doesn't check) on a checking line? I don't. We're pretty set as far as scoring goes. That won't be what defeats us. We just need a stay at home defenseman who hits, and a grinder to a make us a more well rounded team. Besides, as someone already said, he'll command too much money.

The no-brainer answer is Gretzky's point total record. Also, Dave Schultz's 472 PIM's will never be broken, considering how often guys get suspended nowadays for things that wouldn't result in suspensions in those days.
-
I used to in the early 90's, but not since then.
-
I remember there was a Jason Simon in the minor leagues, but that guy has to be in his 40's by now. Is this the same guy?
-
Fair enough, as long as you admit that Lucic is a bad person as well as a hater of small children. BTW, am I being biased here on Lucic?
-
Should be fun to see how the Flyers handle Boogaard.
-
Hey, you can neg me all you want, but Lucic would get killed by any of the guys on your list if they fought in their primes. He's not even one of the 20 best fighters in hockey today, and I doubt any fight fan would say otherwise. You don't have to have been alive. Go to youtube or dropyourgloves.com, and you can watch pretty much any great fighter from the 70's onwards, and watch many of their fights. Just like it is with people who say they don't know Marlon Brando or John Wayne because they weren't alive back then. Doesn't make a difference when they existed, as long as footage of them is still around.
-
If Lucic is one of the 5 best fighters you've ever seen, then I feel really sorry for you. Even if he wasn't a pure spotpicker, I'd still feel sorry for you for putting Lucic on the same list as true heavies. Yeah, Bezeau is a weird one. Right up there with Link Gaetz and Steve Durbano in terms of psycho status.

Did the Flyers really need another tough guy? I like Walker and I'd love for us to have a physical D-man like that, but this is a horrible trade for the Flyers and a rather embarassing one.
-
Wow, you're worse than Kirk Maltby. You should have fought that guy yourself, instead of agitating him like that. Doc Holliday fought his own fights in the old West. You guys need Lilja on your team or something.

It shows that Clutterbuck is a more willing hitter. For instance, Kronwall can hit as hard as anyone, but isn't in the same league as Clutterbuck in terms of hitting, just because he doesn't do it as often. What good is it if he only lays people out once every 5 or 10 games? A guy who always looks for hits and is very good at connecting with them is a better hitter than a guy that hits harder but doesn't do it as often. A 4th line checker's job is to hit all the time. Besides, his hits hurt and I've seen him lay some people out. So I guess it comes down to what you define as a great hitter? The most efficient hitter? Or the hardest hitter? I look at both, and think Clutterbuck is the guy here.
