Also, Lilja replaced Chelios the back end of the playoffs.
-
Nope, you're thinking of 2009 when we lost. Hudler played on the 4th line in 2008 with Helm and McCarty/Maltby. Flip played with Franzen and Sammy that year on the 2nd line. The 3rd line was Cleary, Draper and Drake.
-
Hey, all I see is him winning most of his fights here. If his opponents couldn't put on a good fight for you, that means he did pretty well against them. Back to Boll. I thought we were going after a grinder like Holland said, but this whole Modano thing seems to have detracted Holland from that goal.
-
Last time we won the Cup, we had grinders and defensively responsible forwards on our 3rd line. Namely, Cleary, Draper and Drake. I don't see how you can say it's different nowadays somehow. Wings aren't above anyone else in that department. We need balance just as much as other teams do. In fact, every time we've won the Cup, we had that. Just sayin..
-
You actually thought Holland said that? That would have been something fascinating.
-
It's what Vince McMahon always says about Bret Hart, when it comes to that Montreal Screwjob, when he left the WWE. It's applicable to this situation, somewhat.
-
Lilja can own whomever he wants. If he wanted to, he could come to your house and own you. Look what happened to this poor europuss who dared challenge him.
-
He got his ass owned by Lilja a few years ago. Still, I wouldn't mind having him around, even if it is a downgrade from our fighters in past years.
-
Brett was the best there is, the best there was........Oh wait nevermind, we're talking about Lebda. Holland's last words were, "Brett screwed Brett"
-
Hudler and Modano playing on a 3rd line, usually reserved for checkers and defensively responsible players? Not a good idea.
-
When stars leave to the KHL, this is far worse than having 3rd or 4th line euros doing it. This is bad for the NHL, and it could get worse if Kovalchuk follows.
-
His number should be retired. Just so no one else ever wears it for fear of it being cursed forever in suckiness. Those few Leafs fans who miss Aki Berg will finally see him replaced properly.
-
Why don't Madonna just make up his mind instead of texting ESPN or going to ball games? Time is money for the Wings.
-
Robocop 4?

I saw Willa Ford on "The View" today talking about how much she'd love to live in Detroit. To help her modeling and acting career and all.
-
I talked with Mike tonight, and he confirmed as much.

Modano didn't score that much last year. Considering who his linemates were compared to who Miller and Eaves played with, he didn't score much at all. You're discrediting the contributions Miller and Eaves gave our team last year. You need a balanced team in order to win. Scorers and grinders. I'm not seeing too many grinders right now on our team. Even on the bottom lines we're a little light. Ooops, I just realized Miller has been re-signed. Well, that's a good move and he'll give us much needed depth on the 4th line when there's injuries.
-
I know that guys like Eaves and Miller made us a tougher team to play against, because they constantly crashed the net. Adding Hudler and Modano gives us two more finesse players who won't go to the scoring areas as often. That's not what I want in an ideal 3rd liner.
-
Are you starting with that again? Some of our best players couldn't win faceoffs on the road in the playoffs last year. It's just one of those things the whole team needs to improve on.
-
But isn't that what adding Hudler was for? Minus the locker room thing.
-
But lessens our chances of adding some physicality on the blue line or on the 3rd/4th line. We need to have a well rounded team and this doesn't help that. Hudler already increased our scoring from last year.
-
Pretty much. This move would have been cool about 10 years ago, but I don't see many good arguments coming from people as to how this would benefit us now. What needs does it address? People need to realize that if he was still any kind of impact player, Dallas would have acted differently with him. He's not skilled enough anymore to be a great top 6 forward, and isn't physical enough to be some kind of grinding bottom forward. He's just a famous name, and people are excited to have a future Hall of Famer added to the team, without thinking about how this makes us better.

Willa Ford would be the hottest blonde in our press box since Anna Kournikova.
-
And he can't wear the number of his age, because Zetterberg is already wearing that number.
