This thread is hopeless. Even if every player on the team came out and said, "we think a gritty fighter will help our team", there would still be people here on LGW making arguments against the idea. -

Niedermayer is the most undeserving winner in history. He scored like 11 points in Anaheim's Cup run, and won the Smythe. And unlike say, Scott Stevens in 2000, Niedermayer could hardly be called a shut-down specialist in those playoffs. Toews won by default. If Philly had won, Briere or Leino would have been the frontrunners, but who else for Chicago could have gotten it, despite Toews' s***ty Finals. -
I was hoping the fire sale would occur without them winning the Cup first, and they'd have another 50 year drought.

Boucher should have started this game. I know hindsight is always 20/20, but there was questions about Leighton after the last game, and Laviolette's gut decision didn't pay off. His confidence in the Finals got worse and worse.

Hey, I didn't know Toews even played in this series? Probably the worst performance in Finals history for a Conn Smythe player.

This has to be the worst Cup clinching goal celebration in NHL history. Too bad it counted, because I'd love to see Kane looking like a dumb ass if it didn't. Oh well, that's justice for you. Punch an old man in the face in the summer, and win the Cup the next season. Nice one.

Leino was let down by his teammates in this series. That man WANTED the Cup and was primed for a game 7 hat trick if not for this ending.

I thought Ozzie had the worst 5-hole in hockey before I saw Leighton in this series. Leighton should win the Conn Smythe, because he's the main reason Chicago won despite Niemi's crappy play.

Toews will probably win the Conn Smythe, despite having a Crosby-like Finals.

Carter has played like that the whole series. Like I've said for the umpteenth time, that top line for Philly has choked monumentally in the Finals. Maybe they can make up for it here in OT, although I sadly expect the Hawks to score.

Is that his claim to fame in this series? Not good enough. He's their best forward, and he's been invisible on the scoresheet. Maybe Leino should be captain based on how hard and how clutch he's playing right now.

Mike Richards has flat out choked in this series. Whether you like him or not, you can't say much good about the way he's played up to this point. He makes Joe Thornton look as clutch as Joe Sakic. He needs to step it up now, or forever lose face from those merciless Flyers fans.

Leighton looks about as confident as Roman Cechmanek back there. One more goal for Chicago and this game is over.

But he did nothing for us the first time around, and didn't really bring anything that we needed. That whole right handed shot on the PP crap is overrated anyway. I wasn't surprised that it didn't work out well.

Philly's top line continues to be invisible. At what point in the series do those 3 guys expect to actually score? Wake up already!

Philly gets a gift and still finds a way to f*** it up. Leighton with the Ozzie 5-hole there. This has to be the worst powerplay in NHL history.
