2017 WCF ANAHEIM DUCKS VS NASHVILLE PREDATORS

Not sure how they can generate offense without him. They're already too reliant on their top line and he's their top center. How do you overcome the top center being injured to win the Cup?

2017 WCF ANAHEIM DUCKS VS NASHVILLE PREDATORS

Yikes, what's happened to Rinne since game 1? That was a terrible goal to give up. Jeff Blashill can't hear what you're saying. He's got his AHL and USHL Cup rings plugged into his ears.

2017 WCF ANAHEIM DUCKS VS NASHVILLE PREDATORS

Rinne looked like Bobrovsky last night. Not sure what happened. The Preds played a good enough game to win.

2017 ECF: OTTAWA SENATORS VS. PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

They have a very good chance. The Penguins have to run out of gas sometime. That's why it's so hard to repeat, especially when you have injuries. BTW, Erik Karlsson was the 7th defenseman chosen in the 2008 draft. You think some teams may be regretting that now?

Bishop signs 6 year $29.5 million deal with Dallas

Both of those teams look like they may win a playoff series sometime in the next 5 seasons. That's probably why we're jealous.

Bishop signs 6 year $29.5 million deal with Dallas

Nill and Yzerman both got steals in acquiring Bishop. Tampa's was more of a steal, but this is pretty good for Dallas, considering how desperate they are for a goalie. I thought Bishop could use that desperation against them more in negotiating a larger contract.

2017 WCSF: Anaheim Ducks vs. Edmonton Oilers

If not for that game 5 meltdown, you have to think Edmonton wraps the series up in 6. Maybe they wouldn't win game 6 in a landslide, but I still don't see them losing that game.

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

Bowman was a winner. The Caps replaced a playoff choking coach with another playoff choking coach. Boudreau and Trotz weren't able to win in the postseason in other places. Ironically, Nashville is doing pretty good now without Trotz and Anaheim may get over the hump with Boudreau being out of the picture. Washington needs a more proven playoff coach and more guys that have won the Cup. There's something lacking mentally on this team. They didn't show up in the third period yesterday, despite being down a goal and playing at home.

    New arena construction updates

It's called false advertising. If they showed that Caesar logo initially, they'd risk not having the proposal go through. Public and civic support wouldn't be as high for that stupid Caesars Ilitch crap logo as it'd be for the LED roof with a winged wheel on it.

2017 ECSF New York Rangers vs. Ottawa Senators

Being one of the best goalies in the league doesn't get you a Cup these days. There's a reason guys like him, Luongo, Price and Rinne haven't won a Cup in their careers. The salary cap has resulted in teams building all other positions outside of goaltending. You don't need a HOF goalie these days to win the Cup. Just build a great team in front of them. Chicago did it masterfully with that doll faced scrub Niemi in net in 2010. Then they smoothly transitioned to Crawford.

What? You mean McDavid is not being traded to the Wings? Where's Peter Pocklington when we need him?

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

How many top goal scoring wingers are great defensively? The best goal scoring wingers in the last 25 years weren't exactly competing for Selke trophies. That guys is a nutcase. He sounds like some guy whose girlfriend Ovechkin stole back in Russia.

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

If we're talking about the best wingers in the league in the last 25 years, then guys like Hull, Jagr, Ovechkin, Bure, Iginla, Kariya, Alfredsson all wore the "C". Guess what all these players have in common? None of them won the Stanley Cup when they were the best players on their team. Most of these guys never won the Cup at all.

2017 WCSF: Anaheim Ducks vs. Edmonton Oilers

Well, that's what the other sports leagues do, so yes. Are you suggesting sports games don't get fixed, including hockey?

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

The things he's being criticized for are silly. "He doesn't make his teammates better like Crosby does". "He doesn't play a two way game like Crosby does". "He can't win you a Cup like Crosby can". Do these "experts" realize the difference between a center and a winger? Doesn't seem like they do. Do they also realize Crosby has a number two center behind him who's one of the 5 best players in the world? Ovechkin had a mediocre playoff offensively, but his career playoff numbers are not bad by any stretch. Serious question. How many teams win the Stanley Cup with their best player being a winger? When is the last time this happened? Gordie Howe? Lafleur? Martin St. Louis? Doesn't seem like it happens very often.

2017 WCSF: Anaheim Ducks vs. Edmonton Oilers

The more boring team, with the more boring stadium, and the most boring uniforms in the league won. Good job NHL. Who gives a crap about marketing your future best player in the world?

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

I was going to mention that earlier and it's a great point. Jagr was the best winger in the league for many years, but could never win the Cup when he was the main guy on those Pens teams in the late 90's. A center naturally makes the players around him better. Hard to do that if you're a winger and be the best player on a Cup winning team.
  23. GMRwings1983

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

That would have been true a few years ago, but he's getting older and didn't score that many goals this season for his standards. I guess it all depends on what they can get for him.
  24. GMRwings1983

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

The Caps, like the Sharks, may eventually make the Finals when nobody expects them to. Being a top seed with all the pressure doesn't seem to agree with them.

2017 ECSF Washington Caps vs. Pittsburgh Pens

It's easy to make him the scapegoat, but his playoff numbers have been good in his career. His numbers in the playoffs against the Pens have been over a PPG in his career. He wasn't impressive in these playoffs, though. His teammates have never impressed me in the playoffs. Neither is the coaching. Boudreau and Trotz are not playoff winners.
