We'll trade Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Howard for Thornton, Marleau and Nabokov. Oh and there's already a thread about this.

Chris Phillips did it three years ago in the deciding game of the SCF against the Ducks. Still, Boyle's play was unlike the other ones. This was the funniest of 'em all, especially when you consider how Colorado didn't deserve to win the game one bit. This would be the equivalent having a boxing match where one guy knocks the other guy down 20 times, but gets disqualified for hitting the other guy when he's down and out.

Well, Boyle is considered a good offensive defenseman. Kind of bad how Nabokov and Murray both stared at Boyle as if to say WTF, instead of going over to console him or something. Nice teamwork San Jose. Imagine if Lebda did something like that here, though.

Yeah, but if the Sharks go down 3-1, they could still have two games at home potentially. If we go down 3-1, we're finished.

The whole time I was watching that game, I felt like San Jose was DESTINED to lose. They are the greatest example of fatalism in 21st century America. Seriously, Nabokov can't even stop a backhanded shot from 30 feet away with no screen. What a bum.

Try to clear some cap space, so we're not caught holding our d*** at the trading deadline again, while other teams (like say Phoenix) are making moves to get better.

A lot may depend on Phoenix's injury situation. If the Wings feel like playing, they'll win the series, because they're a more talented team. However, they don't look like they want to win the series right now. Also, Howard can't give up any more bad goals, or else we'll lose regardless of how hard the team plays.

I don't know about that. It felt like he sucked the life out his team after that 4th goal today. There's a good chance the team could have tied the game up with the momentum it gained briefly after Franzen scored.

Because you can't stand the humiliation of defeat. I'm the same way. We follow the proud samurai code of death before losing. In Lidstrom's own postgame words, "I played like Lebda today".

I wonder how this game would have turned out had Howard not given up that backbreaking 4th goal? After that Franzen goal the crowd came alive only to have Howard bring them back into their seats.

Good point. It worked last year so maybe we need to bring up some kind of excuse to justify losing. It's been a whole 4 years since we lost in the first round, so maybe we're due.

If Howard repeats this s*** next game, then I wouldn't mind. Too early yet to give up completely on the series. That's what putting in Ozzie would be like.
