Has any team ever finished first in the NHL in both powerplay and penalty killing percentage? I don't know how long those stats have been kept or even where to look to find them season by season, but I was just curious if any team has ever done it?
-
Thanks! That's a pretty cool site that I've never heard of.
-
Thanks. I didn't know nhl.com listed stats even that far back, but then again I don't visit their site that much. I'm guessing someone probably did do it when there was less teams in the league. Still, finishing first and second like Dallas did is pretty damn impressive.

I also want to see Abby play with Helm, but that means either Eaves or Cleary get put down to the 4th line.
-
Did we play so well yesterday, that all we need to change is our 4th line? Those are the only threads I'm seeing right now in terms of what to change. Put Abby in for Williams and all our troubles are saved. I also want Abby to play, but this won't make or break us.
-
And at least Sammy had some sex appeal. Even the old chicks on that water cooler thread don't have anything nice to say about Williams.
-
I heard that Williams also enjoys pushing elderly people down the stairs.

So is this next game a must win game, or is it not as important because we still have 2 home games in a row after that? I mean obviously, it'd be a bigger game if we had lost game 1 at home rather than on the road. On LGW, if we say it's a softy than it's a softy. Remember how many different goalies the fanbase has run out of town.

What about Meech?
-
Yeah, it was pretty lame, but what do you expect? It's hard to crack good jokes this late in the evening.
-
Yep, pretty much. Kind of like Columbus last year.
-
I agree. If we want to play in May, then we have to play May.
-
He scored an OT goal in game 3 of the 2006 series against the Oilers. Sort of.
-
If we won, this thread wouldn't likely have been a big deal. But yeah, Abby is an improvement over him. I just think the star players should be called out first and foremost. For instance, Franzen and Bertuzzi were no shows tonight. Someone should start a thread about them.
-
What did I say that wasn't true. How could anyone say we outplayed them 5 on 5, when they had our defense gasping for breath in the third with constant possession in our zone. If Draper wakes up, I doubt that will improve our chances.
-
It's all Thornton and Marleau's fault again. Their fans were booing before that puck even went into the net. They're fatalists.
-
He sucks, but blaming a 4th liner for the loss and for a game where our penalty killing sucked is rather unusual. Then again, around here it isn't so unusual.
-
Hey it could be worse. We could be Sharks fans s***ting our pants over de ja vu.
-
Did you watch the third period? We hardly had any puck possession until the last 30 seconds when we pulled Howard. They owned us 5 on 5. We scored one even strength goal and that was a softie.
-
At least the Pens lost. It's like the old days with Colorado, when I felt better about us losing when they lost as well.
-
Based on what? One game. If they keep outworking us, they will definitely score 5 on 5. Our lack of effort led to the powerplay goals even though we managed to hold them off the scoreboard even strenght.
-
We haven't won a series in 3 years when losing the first game. It's over. Pittsburgh over Phoenix in 6 games.
-
They had more 5 on 5 chances than us as well. It's not exactly like our even strength play was incredible. They were forechecking the s*** out of our defense all game. Penalty killing is all about effort, and our lack of effort even strength showed up on the scoreboard once Phoenix got the man advantage.
-
Tell that to Vrbata and Korpikowski, the newest NHL tough guys apparently. I can't believe we let some team full of soft Euros push us around.
-
That was super *** right there. I guess losing at home would have been worse.
