Funny how last week we were all counting on the Flames definitely losing this game. I don't know if it matters anymore, though, now that we have somewhat of a comfortable cushion on them. Colorado must be pissed about this, however.

If they had beaten Canada, then the same panic would surround the state of Canadian hockey. Russia just got unlucky that they played Canada so soon. Someone had to lose that game. Also, they chose the wrong coach and were really hurt by not having Zubov and Markov on the team. And of course Nabokov didn't come to play that night, and I doubt that had anything to do with Russian coaching and chemistry. The guy just flat out sucked in that game.

I call him that all the time. Are people just now realizing that his name can be said like that without anyone picking it up?

It's all about how much hunger and gas in the tank they have left. Hopefully the taste from last year's dissapointment hasn't left their mouths yet. On paper they're good, but they still have to want it more than anyone else. Also, you forgot to mention Howard and how much he has left in the tank. He's played pretty much every game this year it seems. I don't know if 20+ playoff starts is something he has in him.

I'd want us to play Chicago, because they have the worst goaltending out of those other teams. I don't think they want to play us in the first round. Phoenix is not going to be as scared of the Wings as the other top 3 teams, because they just don't know any better, and they don't have as much pressure on them as Chicago or San Jose per se. They're the kind of team we always struggle against. A no name team with a hot goalie and a tight defensive system of hockey. Everyone is expecting San Jose to choke, so this may be their year under the radar where they finally succeed. Vancouver is a bad travel matchup, and Luongo and Sammy would kill us. So yeah, I'd have to go with Chicago.

I guess we should hope that Colorado loses so that we can move up. And BTW, no one should be afraid to play this boring Nashville team in the playoffs. They have no offense whatsoever. Just a horrible team to watch that relies solely on some guy named Pekka.

That was the best shootout in Wings history. We were only a few rounds away from the NHL record. I'm kind of bummed that Lilja didn't shoot, though. He would have just screamed at Rinne, who would have gotten out of the way in fear.

We must have already clinched a playoff spot, because this game feels like every Wings game at this time of year in the past. I'm falling asleep here watching this. By far the most boring game we've had since the beginning of the season, probably because Calgary no longer feels on our heels. Also, Nashville is boring as s*** to watch. A no talent team.

I agree that we can score now, but I'm worried about all the games Howard has played here consecutively. I don't know what Babcock plans on doing here down the stretch. Best case scenario is that we can clinch a playoff spot and just play Osgood the last 5 games or so, not caring about our final seeding in the end.
