People are just realizing the inevitable. This team's dominance is over, and they need some changes in the offseason. Before, there was the injury excuse, but that isn't working anymore.
-
Why don't the Wings ever cover the points? Babcock loves that collapsing style of defense. Too bad it doesn't work when your team never blocks shots or clears the crease. Stupid, stupid Babcock.
-
Well, at least Monday night it looked like we were heading for the playoffs, going 3 up on the Flames, and just 1 back on Trashville. This week is headed towards a s***ty ending for the Wings. I blame it on all those days off.
-
When was the last time we had a 6'4 or 6'5 forward? He's going to look like a goon out there.

Am I the only one who finds this ridiculous ?

Yeah, but it's not like Howard has won 8 games in a row and is standing on his head while we're getting outshot 4 to 1 in all these games. I realize we have to make the playoffs before worrying about the playoffs, but Howard has looked tired since the All Star break, and if he plays every game to the end, that has to affect him in those late games. -
Up to this point, yes. From now on every game is the biggest.

Babcock just hasn't done a good job of coaching this season, most glaringly with this goaltending fiasco. If Howard plays every game the rest of the way and we make the playoffs, what then? Are we going to play a tired Howard in the playoffs, or give Ozzie a playoff start after not having played for 2 months? Babcock should have played Ozzie last night and Howard tonight. Instead, he keeps piling on starts on his tired rookie goaltender. Also, you have to wonder what effect this is having on the rest of the team. They're not robots, so this has to be getting to their heads too. -
I also want to see Ericsson at forward just for the sheer entertainment value. Maybe he'll actually give us some physicality on the 4th line and forecheck like crazy. Doubt it, but at least it's better than putting him on defense. Meech is useless at forward anyway (also on defense).
-
Yeah, but that was the post's fault.
-
Still plugging away at it, huh? How dare anyone criticize the team for not beating Edmonton in the biggest game of the season.

I don't know why you guys are blaming Flip for the shootout loss. When your goalie gives up two shootout goals (to players no one has heard of), you're going to lose the game. Even if Franzen shot, he probably would have missed with our shootout prowess. As for suggesting that Bert and Hank should shoot, get real. Bert couldn't score with a hooker right now, and Hank has been terrible in shootouts his whole career. The first 5 minutes of the game (due to laziness) and our s***ty shootout record are to blame for the loss. That doesn't mean I'm happy with Flip's play, because it isn't very good right now, but him missing the final shot is not why we lost.

Put the ******* bum on the 4th line.

Has there ever been a team that deserved to make the playoffs less than the 2010 Red Wings? Only team I can think of are those Rangers teams in the early part of the last decade, with all that talent. Pretty sad that Howard can't stop some nobodies named Brule and Potulny on shootouts. Guy just ******* sucks in that situation Anyway, it seems that Calgary and Nashville are better apt to show up every game against every opponent. This Wings team because of its poor leadership can't do that.

Welcome to the club.

Flip and Hank haven't scored one goal together since they were paired. s***ty 2nd line needs to be canned.
-
I'm going to disembowel myself after this game. Then again, it's not my fault since this team has taken games off all year. Just bad leadership like I said last week against Calgary. They don't know how to come out for every game and it was easy for me to predict.

Wow, the '87 Oilers are all over us.

Will the Top Team in the West Purposely Lose to Avoid Playing Detroit?

Sharks doing a good job of losing to Calgary so far. Hope the Sharks can come back to dispel any conspiracy theories. -
Ducks - Maybe if they had an actual logo, I wouldn't mind, but I prefer the green and purple colors to these funeral parlor colors they have now. Also, I never saw what was wrong with that old logo Sharks - Should have kept their original jerseys, but instead opted for those added black and white stripes as well as some orange to go with it. Before that, they added grey to it, which was also bad. The original was more plain, and much better to look at. Stars - I wish they somehow kept the North Stars color scheme. Also, that uterus-like 3rd jersey logo needs to be canned. Coyotes - The old logo was terrible (what the hell was it!), but at least the colors were better with purple, green, black and burgundy being there. Now they just have red and white jerseys like everyone else. Also, that greyhound bus jersey is plain ugly. Kings - Should have kept the black and white jerseys they wore during the Gretzky era. Blues - Don't know why they added those yellow stripes a few years ago, because it was perfect up until that point. Flames - They should always wear the jerseys they wore in the 80's. Now it's their 3rd jersey I believe, but it should be the primary ones. Canucks - This may be unpopular, but I think they should wear the jerseys they wore in the early 90's. You know the one's that were black, white and yellow. Also, make the Flying-V the 3rd jersey (No I'm not ******* kidding). Sabres - Why can't they just wear their original jerseys instead of this stupid swish bison logo? Instead, they treat the original one as a 3rd jersey. Common scheme in my post where the better option is treated as a 3rd jersey. Penguins - The ones they wore in the early 90's were the best. Also, the ones they wore in the late 90's were good. Basically, the current color schemes look bland and boring, where beige is used instead of yellow. And don't even get me started on that powder blue crap. Flyers - Bring back the cooperalls baby! Devils - I personally think they need to bring the green pants back into their jersey scheme. Panthers - Another team that decided to add too many unnecessary stripes. Too many stripes is ugly to look at, where their original jerseys were more plain but better to look at. Hurricanes - Horrible jersey. For the longest time, I thought that their logo was a rose, until I looked closer and saw that it was supposed to be a hurricane. I wish they somehow kept the Whalers color scheme. Those were the best jerseys ever in sports. Capitals - I like their current jersey, but I like the blue eagle one they wore before this better. I wish they'd make it their road jersey or something. So what do you guys think? Which ones would you change to the way it used to be?

The Sharks should have done that last year. Then they would have played Columbus, while we'd have matched up with Anaheim in the first round. Hope McClellan has learned his lesson. -
Knowing him, he'll probably choke the game away.

I think you missed the spirit of the thread. I was talking about transactions you liked which turned out as failures. If the thread was just about transactions you hated from the beginning, every post would be half a page long. -

I was referring to his 2002 stint with the Wings. I think he left for a few years before he came back in 2002. Even the 1998 signing wouldn't have been that much of a splash. Krupp is German for crap. -

You mean you were actually excited about us signing Uwe Krupp? Before that season, we had signed Hasek, Hull and Robitaille, so Krupp was hardly on anyone's mind as a big help.
